This Workshop item is primarily intended for Russian-speaking players, as it features a new, higher quality Russian localization. However, the original English files (and other translations) remain untouched. So if you find it convenient to use this version of The Great Work, you are welcome to install it and play in English or any other supported language.

Technical Issues

The West Wing and Basement maps in Chapter 6 are prone to crashing when the maps are loaded, some of the time. After a long investigation, we can't find the cause of the crash.

I've put auto-saves at several points leading up to the offending areas, so you can start from a recent point and hope for the best.

Other Notes

There are two alternate story paths in Chapter 4, and six alternate endings for the entire game. (Anything that runs the credits is an ending, not counting the credits for not having Justine installed).

This Custom Story is based on real historical people and organizations.

The Remnant and Intelligencer enemies are NOT free for use, as they were purchased by me. Do not use them for yourself. I will be watching.

Why this translation?

Yes, an official Russian localization for The Great Work already exists, but it is a machine translation, which significantly degrades the experience in Russian. Whereas I attempted to create a higher quality translation, taking into account all stylistic and historical nuances.

Localization Fixes

In a number of scenes, subtitle lines corresponding to the dialogue were not displaying. In this regard, I fixed some technical issues and ensured that no important dialogue escapes Russian players. These edited files are one of the reasons why I am uploading the full story, and not just the translation file.

Unresolved Technical Issues

At the Cave map, the following bugs are possible (I did not have enough knowledge to fully fix them myself):

• Spider Nest: sound may completely disappear, or the game may crash.
  
• Rope hanging near a cave: the falling animation may be broken, or, less likely, the sound may disappear completely (I did everything I could to prevent this from happening).

In case of sound disappearance, simply save, exit to the main menu, and load your save file.
