Ellis Has Crippling ADHD

Now normally they'd ask ya if you're usin' any other drugs, an' Keith said no even though that wasn't exactly true cause-"

Ever wondered why Ellis talks so much? Turns out it was a symptom of his undiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, better known as ADHD. And those symptoms are about to get a whole lot worse.


A hidden meter tracks Ellis's hyperactivity. As it increases, his stimming will worsen.

• Ellis will talk more often as his symptoms get worse. He can say a variety of voice lines, including most of his stories. It will eventually reach the point where he interrupts himself to start a new story.

• Ellis's hands need to be busy at all times. He will switch weapons at random, which can make it harder to finish reloading or using an item such as a first aid kit.

• Sitting still for long periods of time becomes a challenge. If Ellis is performing a task that involves standing still (such as healing, being healed, deploying an ammo pack or pouring a gas can) he may get bored and try to start moving again.


To help ease his ADHD, you need to keep Ellis busy. Whenever he is out of combat his hyperactivity will gradually increase. Killing a zombie will decrease his hyperactivity and briefly prevent it from increasing. You also need to be careful about giving him adrenaline shots; the sudden boost will massively increase his hyperactivity.
