Conversion and Assimilation Overhaul

描述
Ever wondered where all the religious and cultural minorities went after just a few decades?
This mod (mostly) fixes that.

Changes

Conversion and Assimilation
Passive conversion and assimilation are way too fast for small minorities. This causes, for example, the Jewish population in Europe to disappear within a few decades. The underlying issue seems to be that conversion and assimilation speed scales with the total population size instead of the size of the minority itself.

This is difficult to fix cleanly without performance costs, so instead the following changes were made:
  • Passive conversion and passive assimilation have been removed
  • Advances and laws that previously granted passive rates now instead give bonuses to active conversion/assimilation speed
  • Use the appropriate cabinet actions to convert or assimilate pops

Tribal Promotion
Tribal promotion appears to be bugged(?) in two ways:
  1. It seems to stack with normal pop promotion, making it extremely fast
  2. When promoting, tribesmen lose both their culture and religion. This is especially noticeable in colonies, where native tribes quickly turn into European Christian peasants

I haven’t found a straightforward way to fix the second issue yet. However, the following changes should at least contain the problem:
  • Passive tribal promotion has been removed
  • Use the Settle Tribe cabinet action to convert, assimilate, and promote tribesmen. This action is now roughly 40% slower than before (It might still be too fast — you can still erase a tribe’s culture, religion, and way of life very quickly)

Growth of Minorities
Currently, cores only allow population growth for primary (and possibly accepted) cultures and religions. This causes minorities to shrink as a share of the population even with conversion and assimilation disabled.

The following change was made:
  • Non-primary pops are now allowed to grow in cores

Minorities should now maintain their relative share over time.
However, if a minority is very small, its monthly growth may still round down to zero, meaning it still won’t grow. Unfortunately I haven’t found a good way around this without harming performance.

Migration
Right now, migration is limited mostly to upper-class pops unless you grant a privilege to commoners. And even then, tribes seem unable to migrate at all.

The game becomes much more dynamic if more pop types can move — especially with mods that produce major swings in migration attraction (famines, disasters, etc.).

The following changes were made:
  • Soldiers, Labourers, and Tribesmen can migrate by default
  • Peasants remain tied to the land and still require the privilege if you want them to migrate

Compatibility

Built for 1.0.10, but it is implemented in a way to make it as compatible as possible, so it will likely work with most previous and future versions until Paradox decides to overhaul pop mechanics
