Blue Bird All American A3RE (RHD)

The Blue Bird All American is a series of school-buses produced by American manufacturer Blue Bird Corporation. The fourth generation, designated the A3 series (FE for Front Engine and RE for Rear Engine), was built between 1999 and 2013.


In the late 1990s, FirstGroup, formed from the deregulation of British bus services, began a massive expansion into the North American market. In 1999, it acquired Ryder Public Transportation Services and Bruce Transportation, instantly becoming the second-largest school bus operator in the United States. FirstGroup saw an opportunity to introduce the "Yellow School Bus" concept to the UK. The goal was to secure dedicated contracts with Local Education Authorities (LEAs) and private schools by offering a superior, safer, and branded product that would encourage parents to shift children from private cars to buses, reducing congestion in the process.

20 A3RE's, also known as TC/3000's in export markets were built in right-hand drive format for this proposal, being used initially in Wrexham, Surrey and West Yorkshire. While successful in some regions, the schemes overall did not receive the level of support needed for continued operation, and the nature of the design of the AARE buses meant they were not suited for other work, especially considering accessibility regulations for public service work following changes in the law in the mid 2010's.

This mod depicts a Blue Bird All American A3RE in a right-hand drive UK specification design, with a seated capacity of 65 for school duties, one main bi-fold entry door and one emergency exit on the offside of the bus.

This mod is a port of a model created for a project on another platform, and thus may have some minor issues related to the texture unwrapping and model in game, and features a higher detail level than some of my early models developed for CBM, which may potentially cause performance issues with large fleets on lower-spec setups.

The PDN and PSD templates features a fully prepared setup for repainting, and extra layers with additional options. There are also PNG files with the base template and details as separate files. The doors, mirrors and wheel rims are also paintable on the model itself when using these external templates.
