Veteran units in Zephon are obviously stronger than fresh meat - you're getting whopping +45% hp and +45% damage at max level.

But unfortunately, that doesn't make them THAT much stronger. In nearly all cases two level 1 units will kill one level 10 unit of the same kind.

Veterancy seeks to resolve that - veterans deserve to be stronger and better, getting units to max level and keeping them alive is a no small task. With the mod, every single unit in your roster (aside from purely quest-related units) will have a veterancy trait, providing bonuses at high levels; with the biggest one at level 10.

It won't make low-tier units stronger than higher tier ones, that would upset the balance all too much. However, it will make veteran units considerably more strong than level 1 units of the same kind. Additionally, higher tier units receive less bonuses from veterancy than lower tier units - high tier units are already strong as is, so showering them in many buffs isn't really needed or desired. Titan-class units receive a pretty small consolation veterancy buff.

Heroes are excluded, they already gain good power from level-ups, and if you want heroes to be buffed - there are other mods covering that.

PLEASE NOTE: it will make games harder on very high difficulties, as AI will be getting those max level units in some quantities.




This mod was tested to be in working order, but not playtested thoroughly. Take care if you want to try it right now, more balancing & changes might be required.

The mod adds a trait to pretty much every (playable) unit. Naturally, it won't do anything for custom units added by other mods.

Please report bugs (such as units missing veterancy) and issues on balancing.
