Character Namelist Project

描述
Character Namelist Project

Description
Putting together a project here to expand the available names for characters, eventually aiming to expand most of the game's languages and dialects with historically authentic names and surnames.

All names are pulled from sources covering the 14th through 18th centuries.

Current Cultures
  • Breton
  • English
  • Northumbrian
  • Welsh

Planned Features
  1. Scottish Names & Dynasties
  2. Irish Names & Dynasties
  3. Optimizing and organizing of the Great Britain languages file
  4. Misc additions such as more ship names

Notes
This is an early work‑in‑progress. Feedback and suggestions are welcome as I continue to build out the name lists.
As of now am only aiming for English Language support, but may expand to other latin character based languages.
I will also add a link for a megathread for sources.

Compatibility
Unfortunately not Iron-Man compatible.
Will work fine with anything that doesn't modify the files touched in the language folder.

@Dickie Thanks man! I appreciate it. Have a big ADHD run on etymology every once in a while so this is right in my wheelhouse. Would love if you had any sources for names on this period, really any country. The only two points with this I've struggled with is choosing what "vibe" to go with, as names in 1837 are much different than names in 1337, and the fact lowborn names were often different than what the nobility were rocking.

Bravo - great idea. Downloaded, and looking forward to using this for my first English playthrough. I'm an English historian, so reach out if you need advice.
