Feste Mühlhausen / The German Peasants' War

Over the centuries, there have been numerous failed attempts to capture Mühlhausen Castle. This gave rise to the reputation that the castle itself tolerated no owner other than the noble family of its builders. In reality, however, it is more likely due to the construction method. The walls are almost completely covered with wooden shelters, leaving the besiegers hardly any room for ladders. Furthermore, the defenders find excellent cover. The focus of the enemy attacks will inevitably be on the castle gate, where the aggressors will be covered by the hail of arrows from the archers along the two walls on the left and right sides of the gate. In the inner courtyard there is a pulpit from which Thomas Müntzer gives many of his rousing speeches, preparing the peasants for the coming battle.
