Improved Inflation

In my opinion, the Inflation game rule is too strong. The basic idea is a good one, but its default settings - which raise import prices by 10% every 20 Sols (!), leads to bizarre runaway scenarios for long-established colonies where it becomes utterly absurd to bother importing anything. A challenge is one thing - but a challenge that makes a given feature effectively pointless to use over time (with no recourse) is no fun to me.

This "Improved Inflation" mod makes a number of changes and updates to try and create a version of this game rule that is more fun to play.

Import prices now increase by 1% every 10 Sols, or one-fifth of the default amount in the standard Inflation game rule. This increase continues indefinitely.

Two new repeatable Social technologies are added:

Raise Interest Rates: Unlocks the Corporate Office dome building, if it is not yet otherwise available. Decreases all import prices by 5%, and decreases all future funding gains at the Corporate Office by 2%. It also grants $100m in funding from colonists saving their money and not wasting it on pointless luxuries.

Lower Interest Rates: Unlocks the Corporate Office dome building, if it is not yet otherwise available. Increases all import prices by 3%, and increases all future funding gains at the Corporate Office by 4%. It also grants $200m in funding from the general increase in economic activity.

As you may be able to see, repeated research into either technology (or both) will slowly improve your colony's economy, and can help to counteract the slow progress of inflation in import prices - either by raising your income, or by lowering import prices.

Don't take the "interest rate" concept too literally - it is just a fun idea to get some very basic economic ideas into a game that was never intended to have them.
