Planetary Jump Gates v1.0 - Vanallia/UCP

Planetary Jump Gates v1.0. UCP compatible (UCP is not required). This mod is compatible with the vanilla version of MOO. Load this mod at the end of your other mods. Requires starting a new game if you have already researched Gravitic Fields.

Inspired by the wormhole near Saturn in the Christopher Nolan epic, Interstellar, this mod allows one to build jump gates adjacent to large+ planets in a system.

One can now build a military outpost at the system's single warp point and still build jump gates in the system.

I welcome any feedback or suggestions for improvement.

I suspect I will run into situations where building one on a smaller planet, if there isn’t a larger one in the system.

Yes, you are correct on both counts. (1) This is a planetary structure that can be built like any other building. You can still use a space factory to build a jump gate at a warp point. And (2) the only limitation I added is that the planet size must be large or greater to build it. This means you can have multiple jump gates in the same system.

From my (short) testing, this did not generate any issues for me. But, I'm not sure how the AI will use it, and there could be some problems. But let me know how it goes and if you have any suggested changes/improvements!

Oh, apparently there isn't anything that stops you from building a second planetary jump gate in the system. I colonized a planet in my home system and, after building a planetary jump gate on my homeworld, planetary jump gate is apparently still buildable on the colony world.

I wonder if that causes problems...

I didn't initially understand what you did. I assumed that you made it possible for a Space Factory to build a Jump Gate at a planet. It seems instead that a Space Factory still builds Jump Gates at Warp Points, but you added another type of Jump Gate that a colony can build like a building.

Now I assume that you still can't have more than one Jump Gate per system.

I use a homemade mod derived from Spun Dastardly's "Einstein", which gives you all the techs at the start. My version gives only select advanced techs, but includes the one for vanilla orbital jump gates. I needed to add your new tech for planetary jump gates to my mod to get it to work (or play all the way to the Gravitic Fields tech node).
