With looming threats and the Salamis class destroyer being scheduled to be replaced by a newer more advanced destroyer class the ESDF high command and material administration decided to refit the entire flight 3 of the salamis class as a way to introduce the VLS or vertical launch silo into the fleet and letting captain and commanders getting used to its capabilities while the new destroyer class is being developed.
The biggest changes included replacing the 2 railguns for 4 VLS launchers in the 2 forward nacelles and placing 1 railgun in between the nacelles.
Other major changes includes the removal of its bottom hangar bay and reverting its turret armament to its flight 1 configuration as well as moving the jump drive to the forward section of the ship in order to add a connector to the rear landing pad and conveyor it to the rest of the ship.
