Improved Customs Houses – Berezin Rework

描述
A comprehensive rework of the venerable Improved Customs mod by the good comrade AlexDad (Link). Alongside changes of the pathing, this version removes cargo stations and changes the positioning of the bins to better suit the building models.

Isn't this already in the game? What is the point of this?
In short, no. With the Early Start DLC resting on older vehicles with reduced capacities, the developers decided to go for an easy fix of finally introducing multiple-vehicle movement on the space of the customs house (which most buildings had years ago); but only for the largest, and in a way that I personally find unattractive. This mod extends this behaviour to all customs houses, centred around one-way movement through the space available. This avoids the need for vehicles to flip around by magic to leave the cargo stations, as is done by default. The point is quite simply to make the gates to one's republic – the most vital concentrations of traffic – pleasant, rather than miserable, to look at. I also moved the bins to places where they generally look better.

Doesn't this make the game too easy?
I don't believe it does, but the reality is that I don't care – I hate the default pathing for how it looks. I always play the game in realistic mode, and did so before it was added as an official feature. I don't find that this change compromises what I enjoy about the game. To allow for the prettiest pathing, one or more cargo stations are removed. In most cases and for most cargoes, I think the overall effect is of increased through-put. However, as concrete and aggregate cargoes load more slowly, the through-put for those is considerably lower. Especially in Early Start, when all construction materials are being imported at the border directly, queues are a frequent sight.

Important instructions

This mod does not add new buildings, it overwrites the scripting of the existing customs houses. This requires manual installation, both initially and every time the game overwrites the files. The following are instructions on installation:
  1. Subscribe to the mod.
  2. Navigate to the disk where W&R is installed, then Steam\steamapps\common\SovietRepublic\media_soviet\buildings_types and locate the files zoll_sahy.ini (small), zoll_siatre.ini (medium), and zoll_milhost.ini (large). Copy them if you would like a back-up.
  3. In a new window, navigate to the same disk, then Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\784150\3604067884. If desired, the original files can be copied into the provided Back-up folder. Otherwise, copy the files from the Improved Customs Houses folder.
  4. Return to the game folder and paste the files. You will be asked whether to replace files, say "Yes to all".

Because of the way the game works, changes to the pathing will apply to all existing buildings. However, removed and repositioned cargo stations will only be applied to newly-built buildings, or ones which have already been manually replaced. Therefore, the following are instructions on how to replace a customs house:
  1. While in a game, press the C, H, and E keys simultaneously. This will enable "cheat mode". Close the window.
  2. Open the settings from the panel to the left. Select the second option up from the bottom "General Debug/Cheat Options". Find and enable "Landscape Editor Mode". Leave the menu.
  3. A new tab will appear on your build menu to the right, "CIV buildings". This will allow you to build various default map buildings. It will also allow you to build customs houses.
Warning! Achievements will be disabled if customs houses are replaced in this way. If, however, a new map is created where the customs houses are already replaced, it will be fully compatible with achievements.

Notes of the Author

I would like to extend a great deal of gratitude to AlexDad. Both for his original mod, which allowed me many hours of joy in the game; and for being a great basis upon which I could create this work. Thank you, comrade! (If you were to accept my friend request on Steam, or sent me one yourself, I would add you as a co-author of the mod on Steam)

My roads in the screenshots use partially modded textures.

Any questions directed towards me are welcome, whether in the comments here, on my profile, or on Discord. I am a member of the official Discord (for now) and the Modders' Discord.

I hope that this mod helps others enjoy the game in the way it helps me personally.

In case you are interested, here is my other mod for the remaining customs houses:

Yes and no. The pathing will be updated on all buildings the moment you replace the files. However, the number and positions of cargo stations cannot be changed on existing buildings; so customs houses do have to be replaced if you want everything to be as I designed it.

So if I understand correctly, mod will start working on new made map after I move files?

It does work without major issues from what I remember. There may be some visual problems though, I'm not completely certain.

How do they cope with mirroring?

I must've just messed up when I was applying the formatting, because I initially wrote the descriptions correctly. Very silly of me.

I'm very sorry, you're right! I was supposed to replace the IDs, but I apparently did not. Very sorry!

This description is just copied from the Early Start version (correctly linked at the bottom).

The ID for this asset is 3604067884
The files you want to replace are found in \Steam\steamapps\common\SovietRepublic\media_soviet\buildings_types
