1280 AD: Curonian Tribes

This is one of the factions of my 1280 AD Livonian Campaign.

The Kursi, whom the Christians call Curonians, are a Baltic culture indigenous to the land they called Kurzeme, on the southern shores of the Gulf of Riga. Their prowess in battle is attested as soon as the 9th century by Vikings who settled in Kurzeme, but after the treaty of 1266, they surrendered their land to the Crusading powers. However, the proximity of the Zemgali uprising has emboldened the hearts of the Kursi leaders. If they manage to vanquish the Order’s settlements and unite their forces, they could gain back their independence.
