GE EP-5 New Haven RE-UV

描述
Basically the EP-5 was a model of electric passenger locomotive produced by GE in 1954 that saw only 10 examples produced, all for the New Haven (NH) for use in their passenger trains between New Haven, Connecticut, and New York's Penn Station or Grand Central Station - they were known as "Jets" mainly because of the fact that their main blowers produced a loud roaring-type sound, and, despite having a reputation for being fast and having a high-pulling capacity, they also had the tendency to overheat and catch fire - this was caused by their internal component arrangement being too much crowded and too little ventilated - and this issue was only exarcebated when the New Haven, along with facing financial issues, de-emphasized electric operations in favor of using their dual-mode EMD FL9 locomotives; by 1962, a year after the NH had entered a bakruptcy, only three EP-5s were still in service and, despite all 10 being rebuilt, by the time New Haven was included in the formation of Penn Central in 1969, four of the ten EP-5s were, once again, taken out of service and, later, scrapped, which left only 6 examples of the model. After the New Haven's merger into Penn Central, the EP-5s, now reclassified as E-40s, were assigned to commuter trains between the Grand Central Terminal and New Haven, slowly dwindling in numbers, until, after a fire in a tunnel that saw them banned by the MTA, they were all placed into dead storage, being passed up by Amtrak in favor of newer electric locomotives - two units, #4973 and #4977, were rebuilt by Penn Central and had a multitude of components (one pantograph, third-rail shoes, steam generators) removed, as to be used in freight service, which, for a while, they were, although limited since they lacked dynamic brakes and multiple-unit capability; soon, after the Penn Central was included into Conrail, the remaining two EP-5s/E-40s were retired and, in 1979, scrapped. This mod aims to recreate, as accurately as possible, the EP-5s as they were in New Haven ownership and, as such, has nearly all the Train Mod system features that my recent mods have (Hancock 4700 3-part whistle audio, bell audio, lights) - as always, liveries and spec/model edits made on this are ALLOWED, all I ask for, should you decide to upload it, is for credit to be given and for this to be marked as a Required Item alongside the original model, if possible.

CREDITS
