Far Eastern Rites

描述
Have you ever wanted Christian holy sites that were in Asia without having to begome Nestorian before reforming? Do you want to reform your Norse faith without actually doubling back to icky Scandinavia? Do you want to spread the light of Islam to the East? This mod might be for you!

What does this mod do? It adds nine faiths (three each Germanic, Christian, Muslim) and one Tenet they all share: Eastern Lessons. This is a generic tenet that only really lowers faith reform cost. Each of these faiths has holy sites mostly in the Far East (although Christian faiths keep Jerusalem and Muslims keep Mecca) which are intended to be used by a religion reformed off of them. That is all these faiths are supposed to be: jumping off points, so you can create your bizarre heresy without having travelling across the whole known world to finish a pilgrimage.

To repeat that: these faiths are just here to pass holy sites on to player made faiths. They're not even unique holy sites, they're just stolen from relevant faiths in the area.

I made choices which I thought were fun/had some vague historical backing which could be turned into a fun campaign (Christian Philippines for Iberian Adventurers, Muslim sites in Indonesia). Norse sites in Indonesia are all shamelessly stolen from the Bornean faith that already exists, and I imagine you could make some fun raiding pirate kingdom.... The Norse faiths don't keep any Scandinavian holy sites because I figure they can adapt easier, being pagans, and the Chinese-Norse faith also gets a holy site on Formosa, so you can plot your conquest as Haesteinn or whomever.

I am aware these icons look like total butt. They are hasty recolors. If y'all have suggestions for more fitting icons, names, map colors, or actually relevant holy sites, please inform me, and please for the love of all that is good just reform out of them. (Which I know you can't do as Norse, I am sorry...)

Future plans include making it so you can only convert to these faiths using a decision visible to the player, and this decision would 'line up' the faith with whatever faith the player is converting out of. That is, if they're a Catholic picking the Japanese Rite they'll still have pope religious head, a Shia would stay Shia, etc. I don't know if that's beyond my capabilities but I think that seems a reasonable thing to aim for. Also, tell me if any other regions might deserve this treatment... Maybe something with Adam's Peak? An Amur Christian faith to represent a far flung Orthodox community? I don't know, I just want this mod to be fun.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the mod. Chinese translation can be found here, apparently: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403925213

i`m just sad to see there no proper nestorian flavour in the dlc
seeing that it was there during the tang dynasty

and that the manicheans get their own sect

No problem and I'm really glad you took my ideas into consideration!

Thanks for pointing it out and the suggestions! Localization changes have been made and I've made a Sini script Basmala on a jade plaque the new Chinese Islam symbol. One of the more generic Shinto sites was also swapped out for Aomori. Hope y'all enjoy.

I really like the mod! I did notice that the Christians faiths have the Muslim description. For a holy site recommendation I say Aomori for the Japanese Rite, supposedly that is where Jesus is buried. There is this somewhat fringe that Jesus didn't die on the cross but instead went to Japan and his brother died on the cross, pretending to be Jesus. Also for the Chinese Muslims a symbol could be from the Sini script though it's from the Yuan Dynasty so it didn't really exist in the first two start dates.
