Project Vostok - 1st Battalion International Legion and HUR MO

The 1st Infantry Battalion of the International Legion also commonly referred to as the 1st Battalion of the International Legion or the 1st International Legion, is a formation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, functioning as part of the International Legion for the Defence of Ukraine formed on 27 February 2022. The light infantry battalion is one of four units within the structure of the International Legion, consisting of fighters from several countries including: the United States, Croatia, Brazil, Japan, and more.

The battalion has participated in crucial campaigns and battles including the Battle of Kupiansk and the Battle of Bakhmut. Prior to August 2022, the battalion used to be under the designation of 1st Battalion "Vovkodav" and utilised a different insignia

The International Legion of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (MUN A3449) is a separate brigade-level unit of foreign fighters subordinated to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The unit consists of several foreign units structured at various levels, typically being structured as either a battalion, or a squadron split into several teams functioning completely separate from the regular Ukrainian International Legion, under the HUR MO operationally.
