DOMAIN'S MAGIC

Domain's Magic is a magic mod originally created for the Divine Domain server. This mod adds 17 spells split into 4 element types. Every element has some sort of unique mechanic to play around, the whole mod scales with Authority and is admin-editable with a global multiplier to fit your server.
The mod features a casting system where casting can be interrupted, you can cast while moving but you are slowed, and it is designed to be standalone— not usable with weapons. All spells are admin spawn and meant for admins/owners to distribute as they see fit.


Quick Features

- Multiple spell archetypes: single-target projectiles, AOE projectiles, ground traps, and ultimates.
- Elemental effects — each element includes unique DOTs or effects, not just raw damage.
- Casting system with cast times, movement slowdown while casting, and damage scaling from the Authority stat.
- Admin global damage multiplier to quickly change balance for your server.


How to Use the Admin Menu

You can change a global multiplier (server admin only) to scale all spell damage.
Open the game console and run:
datacmd ddmagic
This opens a simple admin menu. The multiplier accepts decimal values — for example, 0.5 halves spell damage. Minimum allowed value is 0.01.

You can also change the scaling stat from a dropdown.


How to Use the Player Menu

Players can disable their casting aura VFX.
Type datacmd ddmagicplayer into the console to open the settings. This is player-specific.


Design Notes

- Some spells have cooldowns, others do not.
- You cannot cast spells while in combat or while wielding a weapon — the system encourages playing as a full mage and choosing the right spell for the situation.
- You can move while casting, but movement speed is heavily reduced and casts can be interrupted.
- More spells might come if this mod is popular enough to warrant additions or if my server needs more content.


Known Issues / Compatibility

- Issues may occur, especially when used with other mods!
- If you run into problems, let me know! It should work in singleplayer as well if you want to test it, but the mod is designed for dedicated servers.
- Note: Pulling your bracelet off solves many temporary issues.
- Everything is custom-made and this mod does not overwrite any base assets.
- Items that provide projectile immunity/deflection might block your projectile magics (e.g., the ring of Vilya from the EE mod).
- If your projectiles spawn and impact on your feet and you use the Devious Desires mod: open your puppeteer and reset your anim instance. If not, pull off your bracelet or relog.


Mod Order

- The mod does not overwrite anything, so it is safe to place anywhere. Follow other mods’ load-order guides.
- Best practice: place it somewhere near the top or above your gameplay mods.
- Mods that heavily overwrite base assets may be incompatible or cause crashes.

That's basically just a reskinned bow and less of a magic in the context of this mod. If you have suggestions as such please feel free to join the discord and post them there. I'll definitely forget about anything in the steam comments.

Would it be possible for one spell to be like a long sorta sling shot bolt? Basically copying the bow? Would be cool to have one magic as long range as bow

I'm glad you like it, I have some future plans to rework a few things I'm not happy about and add a few instant spell.. probably. New update today also added option to change the stat the magic scales from.

Not at a moment but I plan to expand the admin settings to allow the change of the scaling.

Interesting, but I intend to use Ancient Sorcery and use the mod's attribute for the damage of these spells. Is it possible to change the attribute?

Can you add an option in admin menu to set how long traps are active? For me, they are going to fast.

I wish I could, but the magic in this mod is not a weapons the AI can understand how to use. I'd have to remake the whole mod from ground up to make it usable by thralls as my original intention were players. Currently I'm looking to rework some spells to be more interesting and a few new instant cast spells to make each element flow a little better.
