I updated the scenario yesterday, The ai should be hard coded to see swedish ships as hostile the moment an asset is damaged.
If youre playing on the newest version, then its genuinely the ai being unable to tell what kind of vessel it is detecting from your side and cosplaying the incompetence of the Russian navy irl
But to reiterate what happened was:
1) My sub approached russian surface fleet with torp range, my sub did not fire
2) Russian dropped torpedoes on my sub, which answered and sunk several of them.
3) After this Russia side was very passive allowing me to pick them off easily. IDK why that was.
But it might just be some Rus side AI weirdness.
Ive been playtesting the scenario multiple times the last few days and havent once been able to recreate a scenario where the Russians dont fire at your forces, especially after an RB launch.
I suspect one of the following things happened
1. The sub you used wasnt identified by the russian ai as swedish, and the russians didnt change their stance on sweden as a result. As such, your torpedoes from said sub did not make them turn on you
or
2. you sank the heavy surface ships that wouldve been able to detect your corvettes, and once they were gone the rest of the ships simply could not lock onto your ships with their radars and fire their missiles
Also, the missions relying on time parameters are those that would not effect the reactions of the Naval vessels once they are fired upon.
If its the first one, I could do a fix with an event that says the moment a russian ship is damaged from anything the ai would change its stance
But I think I might have broken the scenario or found a flaw in the design.
I sent my subs to tails the incoming neutral/unfriendly fleets. Once one of them got close to the DDG fleet the russians fired torpedos against it, turning the whole side hostile towards SWE. About 30-60mins later almost all fleet are in the bottom of the sea, most torped to death, rest ate some RB´s.
The problem is that none of the missions for russians have not triggered yet since the missions seems to be waiting for certain time to become active.
So I was wondering if the scenario should be changed so that russians dont shoot before the correct time, even if a sub gets close. OR maybe the missions etc general hostilities should launch when first shot is fired?
It seems really easy otherwise: bait russians to shoot at you, sink every ship they have and rus has not fired single shot after that first torpedo.
- the naval bases are currently in their default orientation which makes it impossible to RTB naval units back into them for repairs.
- A lot of the naval units have the same name, which is best practice to avoid because you can't always tell which is which in the mission menus
- "ASCM terrain following restriction" is set on. It's currently bugged and just makes it so you have to do bearing-only launches so you end up wasting Rb15s pretty often. Until it gets fixed I would set it to off.
- I would recommend adding some clouds and bumping up the sea state in the weather settings. This adds some complexity to the fight and also its currently a bit easier than realistic for the Russians to find your subs.
Thanks for making a great mission!
