So the fight duration went down by over a half, the emp bomb load could be reduced and I could now take extra torpedoes on board to take out domed missile turrets to clear a parking space in a much more natural boom and zoom fashion. And with a reinforced cockpit cage the risk of glass blow out went down drastically.
But so between this development track and the recent increase in the SV block hit points, the Vanguard is now a little bit overarmored for the purpose.
I have new project in mind that should simplify the fight a little more I think. But I need to work out the shaping first (god damn elite dangerous simple yet difficult to precisely pull hull lines).
But the damage was still excessive and the risk of loosing the cockpit glass to the heavy plasma was still too high for general use recommendation. I also had to restrip shields all the time and do the miserable laser cannon strip with the vulcans on one of the tovera's nacelles while hiding its the thin edge shadow from the rest on the move - before torping out the drives (you can't fight a stationary tovera).
I hope she serves you well! Vanguard is a combination of form and function creation, and it took me a while to figure everything out. She was originally tested to fight with just 4 Vulcans against imerats and kamirats and worked well enough there, but struggled against a tovera - those heavy plasma guns and beam cannons were messing up the aim too much for consistent burst fire and did too much damage.
