Hometown

Story: It's a summer night in the late 2000's and you decided to run down to the local shopping center to meet up with your friends. As you wait, you decide to wander around for a while, grab a bite to eat, or watch a movie.

I started work on this map back in May and it was a very ambitious project at first. The map was much larger containing many more locations to visit but I hit the brush limit and had to cut out almost 80% of the map leaving what is now "Hometown". I'm still very new to Hammer mapping and I haven't made a source 1 map in almost 2 years. its good to come back to it and let my creative juices flow. Although I have improved my skill from my last map, you can tell I'm still fairly rusty.

My Inspiration for "Hometown" from my own hometown. There has been some major construction and renovations going on around town and it made me think back to how the place looked when I was younger. Going to the movies with my mum and dad, eating sausage rolls and Slurpies outside the serv-o, and I wanted to capture those memories in a capsule I can revisit.

As mentioned before, I am still very new and unexperienced at Hammer and Still learning the basics of map optimization, but all feedback is accepted so feel free to leave tips on where to improve :)
