Union Pacific 4000 Series "Big Boy" - Early Start Friendly

Union Pacific 4000 series locomotive, "Big Boy".

Modified from Lex713's Union Pacific 4000 "Big Boy" workshop item, with changes made adapting it to Early Start DLC including some tweaks to visuals.

This workshop item features four variations on the 4000 series locomotive, based on the real life 4884-1 and 4884-2 models, built in 1941 and in 1944:

4000 Series Type 1 (Available 1941 through 1944)
Speed: 130 kmh
Power: 4690 KW
Empty Weight: 540 tons
Fuel: Coal

4000 Series Type 1 Oil Conversion (Available 1941 through 1944)
Speed: 130 kmh
Power: 4690 KW
Empty Weight: 540 tons
Fuel: Liquid Fuel

4000 Series Type 2 (Available 1944 through 1960)
Speed: 130 kmh
Power: 5220 KW
Empty Weight: 548 tons
Fuel: Coal

4000 Series Type 2 Oil Conversion (Available 1944 through 1960)
Speed: 130 kmh
Power: 5220 KW
Empty Weight: 548 tons
Fuel: Liquid Fuel

Total locomotive length for all types is 40 meters.

Available for purchase with dollars or rubles.

Only 4005 and 4014 were ever converted to oil, but I decided to add liquid fuel running variants for more choices. In real life, 4005 was converted to oil, then back to coal due to heating problems. 4014 was converted as part of the modern restoration project.

But if you prefer running it on oil, def check out Lex713’s version. I might add a 2nd version in mine that runs on fuel but keeps all the tweaks I’ve made.

Did a little digging, found that only 4005 was converted to oil during its active years due to a potential coal strike, but it was later converted back to coal due to heating issues. All 4000 series ran on coal save for 4005 and 4014, first of which was converted back to coal in 1948, and 4014 was converted as part of the restoration project.

actually i think the big boy ran on oil rather than coal, so having it filled with liquid fuel would still be canon

I spent an hour reading about the Big Boy and related engines after seeing this. It was wonderful
