八路军 129 师 386 旅在旅长陈赓的率领下，转战晋冀豫三省，凭借灵活的游击战术和顽强的战斗作风，多次给予日军沉重打击。1937 年，386 旅在山西省平定县七亘村采用重叠伏击战法，两次伏击日军运输队，伤亡 50 人，歼灭日军 400 余人。1938 年，又先后在长生口、神头岭、响堂铺三地伏击日军，共击毙日军少佐指挥官两人及一千多名日军。
1939 年 2 月 9 日，386 旅在香城固设伏，诱歼日军一个加强中队。此战后，日军极为恼怒，于 2 月 11 日集结 2000 多人，出动坦克和 5 架飞机，在装甲车上贴着 “专打 386 旅” 的标语，沿途搜寻 386 旅踪迹，但最终未能得逞。
It is a true historical fact that the Japanese invaders wrote "Specialize in attacking the 386th Brigade" on their vehicles.
The 386th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, under the command of Brigade Commander Chen Geng, fought in three provinces (Shanxi, Hebei and Henan). Relying on flexible guerrilla tactics and a tenacious combat style, it inflicted heavy blows on the Japanese army many times. In 1937, the 386th Brigade used an overlapping ambush tactic in Qigen Village, Pingding County, Shanxi Province. It ambushed the Japanese transport team twice, with 50 casualties on its own side and over 400 Japanese soldiers eliminated. In 1938, it successively ambushed the Japanese army in Changshengkou, Shentou Ridge and Xiangtangpu, killing two Japanese major commanders and more than 1,000 Japanese soldiers in total.
On February 9, 1939, the 386th Brigade set an ambush in Xiangchenggu and lured and annihilated a reinforced Japanese squadron. After this battle, the Japanese army was extremely angry. On February 11, they assembled more than 2,000 soldiers, dispatched tanks and 5 aircraft. They pasted slogans reading "Specialize in attacking the 386th Brigade" on their armored vehicles and searched for the 386th Brigade along the way, but ultimately failed to achieve their goal.
