DRx Aphercotropist D

描述
The heavier variant of the Aphercotropist class, and the result of a deep dive through Survival mode (pre Alpha 17). The A, B, and C, variants came and went in rapid succession, fixing vulnerabilities, sudden life support crises and rapidly escalating hostiles. The Delta variant has been stable for a while now, but at the cost of losing some of those elegant hull lines to weapon barnacling and getting heavier. The new version clocks in at 41.8M spacebux.

The changes:

Added 11 engines(!). One extra each to the dorsal and ventral fins, and nine extras in a new rack at the rear of the vessel. The Delta variant can muster 17 speed, and can now consumes more of all that surplus fuel that tended to accumulate on earlier models.

Removed the forward facing mining lasers and replaced them with railguns. There are now eight forward facing rails to assist long range frontal assaults. Too many brave spacemen perished trying to EVA during combat, rescuing exposed mining lasers that took damage the moment anything turned up.

Two weapon blisters added to the dorsal hull, adding ten new cannon. The Aphercotropist D should handle dorsal attackers a little better. The old problem of small fighters slipping between the guns into the vulnerable interior and wreaking havoc should be better addressed. The extra blisters also facilitate forward and rear defence responses.

Speaking of mining lasers, there are now 10 internally facing mining lasers, expressly designed to strip comets and asteroids in double time.

The "alligator teeth" drone configuration is still largely the same, although the track system internally has been reconfigured into a luggage carousel in an attempt to minimise clogging. You can optimise unloading speed of the carousel by changing the cargo types of the Small Cargo Storage boxes found at the aft end of the drone bays as required.

The industrial setup is largely unchanged. The top two Assembly Tables can be used to build anything - replacement drones, mostly! - and a fully teched up ship can pretty be used to produce spare parts. The bottom two Tables are designed for rapid track, storage, tankage, robot arm, and other simple items.

Beefed up the science lab aft of the ship to accommodate new developments in scanning.

Many, many internal adjustments, wall changes, shuffling of devices, cargo, tanks, etc., too numerous to mention.

Cosmetic update to the paint scheme, plus some interior decorating.
