Genoa: La Superba

描述
A mod entirely dedicated to Genoa and its history. Play as the Superb Republic of St. George (and as its Bank*)! I feel that that this nation has been somewhat neglected, while it can be considered in many respects the progenitor of modern Western plutocracies.

This mod includes 190 new events with 48 new event pictures, 40 new decisions, 13 new government reforms, a totally revised mission tree (comprising 62 missions), 3 new provinces, 1 new vassal country, 23 more loading screens, Genoese music**, Italian dynamic province and colony names***, in more than a myriad lines of code. The localized text is the size of some 70 standard Word pages. I advise you to savour the pleasure of reading: sometimes, it could be useful for your gameplay, and always informative. The starting screen is from the “50 Loading Screens” mod, while the new mission tree got a couple ideas from the “Missions Expanded” mod.

Survive an era of political turmoil, restore the Genoese maritime power, maintain hegemony over the Eastern trade routes, pioneer modern finance, become the banker of the Spanish crown, collect Flemish paintings, build lavish Renaissance palaces, and refresh yourself exploring their Italian gardens!

Almost half of the new events and decisions are dedicated to financing foreign Crowns. A historical playthrough (and especially an alliance with Castille-Spain) is suggested. The remaining events are mostly dedicated to the political and cultural history of the Republic of Genoa. I have tried to encourage playing tall. When I first created the mod, I had in mind to play as Genoa until the end of the game. Thus, changing TAG would exclude many events, and probably also reveal some bugs. I must still improve the mod from this point of view. On the other hand, there is plenty of content for Genoa, rest assured! Anyway, if you change TAG, please report to me any issues you encounter! I will try to solve them as soon as possible!

As of now, localisation is available only in English. I plan to create also an Italian version in the future. If someone wants to help localising the mod in other languages, please write to me!
You are also invited to visit the mod's thread at the Paradox forums[forum.paradoxplaza.com].

The alpha version of this mod was created and tested for patch 1.33 (with all DLCs enabled). It was almost completely debugged, when the game got updated. I did not have the time to keep up with the updates, nor even to complete the mod at that time, so I have not uploaded it to the Workshop until now. Indeed, this mod modifies tens of vanilla files, so it necessitates heavy maintenance with every new patch. For the same reason, this mod is neither compatible with Ironman nor with most other mods (nonetheless, I fantasize about creating a version compatible with Beyond Typus). Thinking that 1.37.5 might be the last patch of EU4, I have now updated, completed and uploaded the mod, in order to make it available for everyone! I’ve tested this new version of the mod extensively, but not thoroughly. Therefore, please make me know if you find any bug!

By the way, happy anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto to everyone!

*The Bank of St. George was de facto the central bank of the merchant republic of Genoa. It was founded in 1407 to consolidate the public debt of Genoa. From 1539, the Republic and the Bank of St. George solemnly declared their mutual respect and communion of intent every year.

**The mod includes some pieces of Classical music, in particular the 24 Caprices by Genoese violinist Niccolò Paganini, interpreted by Michael Rabin[liberliber.it], and the historically-set album “Racconto delle ville antiche di San Pier d’Arena” by Alessandro Mancuso, a Genoese singer-songwriter and a friend of mine, to whom this mod is dedicated.
My version of the mod also includes 9 songs from the albums “Creuza de mä” and “Le nuvole” by Fabrizio De André, entirely in Genoese dialect. I could not include these songs, however, due to copyright concerns. I invite you to purchase them: if you own the albums, then you could create your own mini-mod. If someone is interested, I can publish the code for their implementation into the game (while, of course, I cannot share the files of the songs themselves).

***My other mod, Italian Dynamic Province Names, is incorporated into this one, or rather it was extracted from this one, with minor modifications. If you have that mod, make sure to disable it when you enable this one!

@青沼Azuki
Hi! Sorry for the late answer: I was on vacation last weekend.
Yes, you can utilize and incorporate anything, please just give attribution to me, Riccardo Radici. Regarding the translation, that would be great! Let me know if you need any help (if some text is unclear, etc.)!

Great mod! I'm currently working on a mod called “海洋共和国”[Maritime Republics] and was wondering if I could incorporate certain elements from your mod into my project. Additionally, may I request permission to translate your mod into Chinese?:Gifting:

@andre.dz The only other mod I've actually used along with this one is my Genoese Music mod, which I cannot publish for copyright reasons, unfortunately.

@andre.dz Music and Graphical Improvements mods should be compatible. Also The Great Exhibition should (in this case, the only issue are - I think - the event pictures I added, which are of normal size, and maybe they won't be displayed properly for this reason).

Oh, ok, thanks for the response! I'll definitely keep your mod in mind for later then! Hmm do you have any mod you like to use along with yours?
riccardoradici  [作者] 10 月 22 日 下午 12:28
@andre.dz Eh, my mod overrides 84 original files, and many of those are also modified by The Third Odyssey. Furthermore, both my mod and that one modify the map. So, they are definitely incompatible. I'm sorry.
andre.dz 10 月 22 日 上午 3:48
Speaking of Byzantium, do you think this'd be compatible with Third Odyssey? I guess it would slightly incompatible but I am not 100% how files override one another in EU4.

@karinafalen2017 Unfortunately, as I said, that would be a demanding job, because many modded files overlap. Therefore, I'm not planning to do that... sorry. For now, I'll concentrate on further debugging the mod, and then on the Italian translation.
Only afterwards, I'll consider making it compatible with a couple other mods, but only if there is much interest. If someone wants to make the mod compatible themselves, however, they are free to do the job. Just let me know, and I'll provide all the support I can.

can you make this mod compatible with extended timeline?
