In mid to late 2011, the Arcadists started modernising their equipment to better combat coalition forces.

The ballistic vest is apparently a prototype mass produced by the Arcadists after blueprints were found in a bunker, and is nearly bulletproof.

The new uniform and equipment were first issued to elite soldiers, then to all soldiers by early-2012, just after the defeat at Kurpaya.
