(Possibly) The most comprehensive Star Wars Weapon Pack

Galactic Ghost Templates adds nearly all blasters from DICE's Battlefront series as ghost templates.




Aren't these weapons already available from other mods?

Sort of.

This mod was originally just a personal project to tweak the textures of a couple of Star Wars mods, and then I kept finding small things I wanted to polish and tweak.

Eventually I scrapped the modified stuff and started from scratch with models, textures and sounds grabbed from the two games, and decided to make it an actual mod.

Importantly, the mods that also add these weapons do a great job, and there's a ton of work involved in every one of them, so the following differences isn't some sort of dig at their work.

Key differences
  • Fixed Black/White levels on colour textures.
    Directly out of Battlefront, the colour textures are very washed out. This mod brings the contrast back to a normal level.

  • Flipped Green channel on normal maps.
    BF normal maps need a flipped green channel to display properly in XCOM. Some mods do fix this, but it was sort of inconsistent, and results in a very off looking material if not fixed.

  • Proper metallic/specular/roughness maps.
    Whoo boy... WOTC uses an old proto-PBR method for metallic materials, and DICE uses a completely different method to achieve their metals. I'm pretty confident that I got the materials as close as possible to how they are supposed to look.

  • Optimized Meshes.
    Ripped models have a ton of overlapping vertices. I went through all of them and merged/removed the duplicates. This resulted in between 30% to 80% fewer verts depending on the mesh in question. I have no idea how much of an impact it actually has on performance, if any, but I didn't wanna leave them like that.

  • Animations.
    Several guns have custom animations to avoid clipping, although some still clip unfortunately. All guns have trigger proper animations that are almost imperceptible and probably a huge waste of time on my part.

  • New effects.
    This mod adds new muzzle flashes and blaster bolt effects that hopefully comes as close to the look of Battlefronts effects as Unreal Engine 3 can manage.

  • Updated sound effects.
    Battlefront uses layered sound effects for all their guns. I've added proper bass sounds to the weapons that use them, giving them a more satisfying sound.

  • More guns!
    Most Star Wars weapon mods are missing a decent amount of weapons that were added in later updates. This includes all First Order Weapons.

    All in all this mod currently adds about 70 weapon templates to the game, including variations. A list of what's currently added, can be found below.

    A lot of the guns have proper attachments such as scopes, extended mags and stocks. It varies a lot as I tried to match attachments so a scope attachment actually adds a scope.

    Pistols and some other guns have an extra variant instead, since they don't support attachments.

I intend to add several more weapons in a future update, including explosives and melee weapons. These require more work, and I wanted to get the main part of the mod published before adding any of them.

Ghost Templates

This mod doesn't add any actual items to the game. You need Iridar's Template Master and something like XSkin to reskin your weapons.

Compatibility

It should be safe to add and remove mid campaign, if you already have Template Master installed.

Cannon Animation Redux is currently incompatible. I'm working on a fix, for the next update.

Credits

All weapon meshes, textures and sounds come from DICE's Battlefront series, and are made and owned by them.

The WESTAR-34 Model and Sounds are from EPIC's Fortnite and is likewise made and owned by them.

I initially based this mod on Cavily's Star Wars Rebel Alliance Weapon Pack and used their mod as a reference, especially in the beginning.

Issues and support

If you find something is still not working despite the changelog stating it should, please make sure to unsubscribe and resubscribe to make sure it's not just the workshop acting up.

This is my first XCOM mod, and I had to start over several times while learning the quirks of the editor and modbuddy. That means that there's likely some bugs to iron out. I could also only test it on one computer, so it's possible that things may look different on other hardware.

Sorry double post but another Cannon also have that problem (in tactical right now so I can't get its name sorry but I'll link a pic of it, https://imgur.com/ON3A0ng ) Also +1 on maybe making a bug report thread so it doesn't bloat the comments

Hmm There seem to be weapons with sound effects that don't sync with the sound effect level choose in the settings
Like no matter what level of sound you pick,they blast your eardrums with how loud they are.

A lot do lower their sound level to sync with the setting vfx level,but others don't,if that could be fixed it'd be neat.

The ones I found so far going full volume no matter what are :
The Z-6 (it was the normal one but I'd assume the chromium does it too)
DLT-19 Heavy Blaster (again I assume the variants do the same)

@egg - Very weird, and I'm not sure what could be wrong. Have you tried unsubscribing and resubbing and/or running only the necessary mods to see if that works?

Ok so, just tried a lightsaber ghost templates, and that works fine. So got no idea what would even be the problem

The CR-2 doesn't have reload animations.
