Desert Tan is a colour which is like the color of desert sand. It is a deep tone of beige. In 1998, desert sand was made into a Crayola crayon colour, which marines very much enjoy eating. The color shown matches the one of the three colors in the 3-color Desert Camouflage Uniform of United States Army. In 1990, it began to replace the 6-color Desert Battle Dress Uniform.
