Looking to run both Player Town Settlers and Random Small Settlements (ENG) without overcrowding your map?
This tweak patch smooths things out by shifting settler placements, letting the two mods complement each other instead of overlapping.

🏜️ Overview 🏜️
This patch adjusts where Player Town Settlers spawn so they don’t conflict with Random Small Settlements (ENG) and (hopefully) makes Settlers behave a bit more consistently.

What this mod does:
• Added Player Town Settler spawns to: Dreg, Sinkuun, Skinner's Roam
• Removed Player Town Settler spawns from: The Eye, Heng, Great Desert, Okran's Pride, Okran's Valley, Stenn Desert
• Updated Settlers’ AI package to help them stay inside your gates more reliably

The goal is simple: reduce overlap while letting both mods shine.

Random Small Settlements (ENG) introduces faction-based settlers in key regions. These settlers aren’t recruitable like Player Town Settlers, and their spawn coverage can overlap with the player-focused towns.

With this tweak:
• Faction towns stay where they belong
• Player-settler recruits spread into other regions naturally
• Settlers are less likely to get stuck outside your walls

💡 Notes on AI 💡
Some users have reported occasional AI issues with Player Town Settlers not responding correctly to raids or patrols. Here’s what I’ve observed and some tips:
• This occurs when the Settlers are split — some inside your gates, some outside. If they’re all inside (or all outside), their AI stays stable.
• Having a +40 or +60 relation helps instead of just the initial +20. Fully allied Settlers act more independently on your behalf, which can help their AI reset if it stalls.
• Make sure you have a Shopping Counter built, and that there are items inside it. NPCs prioritize shopping and will travel into your base if there’s something to buy.
• Placing something expensive in the counters helps the AI loop properly: attempt to buy → can’t afford → AI resets to patrolling.

I usually herd them inside using the Shop Counter trick. If the glitch happens to you, here’s how to fix it:
1. Put items in your Shop Counter (food, booze, or medical items work best).
2. Make sure it’s between 8:00–22:00 — that’s when they shop.
3. Open your gates.
4. Save and reload.
5. They should walk inside to shop after reloading.
6. Once they’re all inside, close your gates.

Sorry I can’t seem to fix this completely — these guys are finicky. They’re essentially trying to fulfill four different AI roles at once: Wandering Trader, Caravan, Outpost Mercenaries, and Citizens. You might be able to separate each role into its own Settler faction and then ally those factions together, but... that’s a project bigger than me.

This patch requires both the original Player Town Settlers and its 2020 patch. Make sure you load them in this order:

@Kasuhiko Did a bit more testing and I think I finally figured it out! The AI bugs out if your Settlers are split — some inside the gates, some outside. If they’re all inside or all outside, everything works fine.

I tweaked the AI package a little bit more, and this should help keep everyone inside your walls. And if they do wander out, check the readme for a few steps on how to herd them back in.

@Kasuhiko No clue if it helped, but I did try to update their AI package in two different locations. Let me know how it goes. I’ll make sure to test it thoroughly tomorrow.
(Might need to unsub/resub to receive the changes.)

There's a known bug where the NPC will knock on your doors and gates during raids and other events. Do you think you can fix that? Thanks a lot!
