Fox Spirit (ver. 1.0)

Beskrivning
Fox Spirit (ver. 1.0)

Introduces a New Fantasy Race to CK3 — Fox Spirits / Kitsune

V1.0 Update — Fox Spirit Cultivation:
V1.0.1 Fixed a bug of Chinese localization

V1.0.0 update
This version introduces fox spirit cultivation mechanics, adding new activities, interactions, and events for fox spirits and characters with hybrid cultures.

For ambitious players aiming to become powerful fox spirits, you can gain massive benefits to abilities, reputation, and health through cultivation activities and dual cultivation with other fox spirits.

For roleplay-focused players who prefer a stable experience, the new cultural settings make it easier to create a hybrid fox spirit culture, preserving all fox spirit cultural traits while expanding freedom.

Additionally, the “Fox Spirit Dual Cultivation” interaction can be used on any character of a compatible orientation, allowing possession of specific characters and engaging in a mini-game battle in bed.

For players who only wish to retain fox spirit bloodline traits without changing culture, new resolutions are available to partially offset the negative effects of fox spirit lineage.

Features:

Adds the fox spirit, a legendary creature from Chinese/East Asian mythology, including fox spirit culture and unique traits.

New activities, character interactions, several decisions, and dozens of events covering recruitment of fox spirit courtiers, cultivation, and possession of opposite-sex characters to absorb vital energy.

Adds a new head accessory — fox ears — bound to characters with fox spirit culture/traits, but also wearable by normal characters via the barber interface.

Q&A

1. How do I obtain a fox spirit?
Look for the “Listen to a Story” decision; clicking it will trigger the relevant event.

2. How do I make my offspring fox spirits?
The fastest method in the current version is to have children with a character who has the “Fox Spirit Bloodline” trait (usually a fox spirit). Offspring have a chance to inherit the trait, and children with “Fox Spirit Bloodline” can use a decision to convert their culture.

3. I have the fox spirit trait but haven’t converted to fox spirit culture. Can I cultivate?
Yes! As long as you have the “Fox Spirit Cultivation” trait, you can engage in all fox spirit activities and interactions, though it may be more challenging for your situation.
When a fox spirit uses the “Dual Cultivation” interaction on you, completing the mini-game grants the “Fox Spirit Cultivation” trait.
Additionally, using the “Attempt to Remove Fox Spirit Bloodline Effects” decision and choosing to do nothing has a small chance to trigger a follow-up event granting the “Fox Spirit Cultivation” trait.

4. About hybrid fox spirit cultures
Make sure to incorporate the “Fox Spirit Identity” cultural tradition to ensure the hybrid culture retains all features of fox spirit culture (e.g., fox ears, cultivation activities). “Fox Spirit Identity” can only be obtained by merging cultures that include this tradition.

5. Why is “Eight Tails” the maximum for the fox spirit cultivation trait?
Because “Nine Tails” represents an extremely powerful fox spirit. Future versions will allow players to pursue the more challenging path to become a Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit.

S1. Will the MOD continue to receive updates?
The MOD will continue to add new content, including at least two major updates:

Version 1.1.0 will refine relationships between you (including as a human) and fox spirits, allowing for human-demon romance through dating and other activities.

Version 1.2.0 will allow you to become the “Greatest Fox” — the Nine-Tailed Fox — and introduce a legendary fox spirit conqueror active during the CK3 era.
Additionally, the MOD will continue content expansions, fine-tuning, and aesthetic improvements, including multiple fox ears, fox tails, and a fox spirit-exclusive gene pool.

S2. I encountered an issue and want to help improve the MOD, but don’t know how to describe it properly
Thank you! If the issue is hard to describe in comments, you can send: a detailed description of the error, screenshots, active MODs, and relevant files from ~\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\logs (highly recommended).

Compatibility
Conflicts may occur with other outfit MODs, especially those adding accessory headwear (e.g., fox ears may not display).
If issues arise, try adjusting the MOD load order.

Translations
Currently available in Chinese, English, Russian, French, Japanese, and Korean (all non-Chinese versions are AI translations). Better human translations are welcome.

Acknowledgements
The fox ear model is adapted from a cat ear model originally created by others. The original Catnip Kings: Elder Kings 2 Edition (Outdated) MOD is from loverslab (stalindlrp), and the cat ear model was made by AmishCyborg.
Thanks to stalindlrp and AmishCyborg for their work!

Thank you for your kind explanation! It's really interesting. In terms of their man-eating nature, Gumihos seem quite distinct from other fox spirits in Asia. I'm very willing to incorporate their lore into the game in the future.

A quick Google search on the subject gives more clues.

A Korean Kitsune is called a "Gumiho," and unlike Japanese Kitsunes, they are almost always, universally evil. Male Gumihoes are usually heretics who defy Buddhist principles (e.g. monks that broke vows), while female Gumihoes are sexy women that seduce men in order to eat them.

Naturally, any Gumiho religion would have the Ritual Cannibalism Tenent and the Sacred Lies Tenent, as these are literally the defining traits of all Korean Kitsunes.

Livers eaters?
Sounds interesting. Maybe I'll add them in a future update

@Guy

If we're getting a Japanese Kitsune culture, make sure we get a KOREAN Kitsune culture too. Those suckers could even have a cannibal cult, because they eat human livers.

@PPSNYY 暂时还没,不过之后应该会有的

@Guy try this one: More Fox-Spirit Cultures

@Guy Of course!
How about a small sub-mod for it?

Oh, I see I could in theory hybridize fox spirit and yamato, but they've got a 0 acceptance baseline and you can't have your steward raise cultural acceptance as a count, which pretty much all Japanese rulers are stuck at for quite a while, so I still want a starting Kitsune culture.
Guy 9 dec @ 2:56
Could you make a Kitsune culture? Not necessarily any special features, just a Japonic heritage fox spirit culture with Fragile Peace and suchlike
