Alternate Combat Mod

Beskrivning
This mod modifies combat & camera lockon behaviour to make melee combat more free and make it easier to switch targets, bringing the games combat feel closer to games like M&B, Mordhau and Chivalry. Also makes combat cursor more responsive and no longer is based on enemies but centered on screen

Aim at an enemy to trigger combat mode as usual, except now the crosshair is centered and you can move your mouse around to switch targets. You can hold block to force a free cam during combat, and in that state the game never hijacks your camera, but in normal state it can still happen sometimes, mainly related to enemy animations.

Only modifies a bunch of console commands so it should work fine for future patches, does not contain any .pak files so integration with other mods should be simple. Make sure there are no other mods overriding the commands in the mod.cfg from this mod or it won't work.

This mod is experimental and the game still takes control of the camera sometimes so this is not 100% free form combat yet.

Manual lockon bind still works as before. This only adjusts the automatic lockon. The mod also works well with toggle camera lockon.

You may encounter bugs and crashes and some clunkyness, however from my testing it's very playable. This was made for mouse & keyboard, gamepad values are setup but untested so may not work as intended.

This only changes camera lockon behaviour and the combat cursor! Does not change damage, stamina or anything else.

Crush saving our combat once again? Excited to try this

As hardcore mode player, want to say that without combat rose this mod is less usable because it's a lot harder to indicate which side a strike would go

you switch targets to fast

Makes lock-on less strong, so switching stance fucks with the camera even more ..

@Christovur I'll look into it, but as always with experimental mods like this crashes and bugs are to be expected, especially with a huge game like this with so many possible interactions. I've been playing the game myself with the mod with no issues so far, but I will look into it soon.

I had three crashes in the kings gambit quest while pouring wine. After disabling the mod, I was able to finisch the quest just now.

@Redhalo I know what you mean, this mod doesn't change that behaviour. Would have to find the logic that triggers the unlocking when enemies surrender/run away

There's nothing worse than being in the middle of a heated fight, and having all your equilibrium drained from you instantly when you lose your targeting. I go from oriented to the current combat, to disoriented, and staring at the sky or ground. It's asinine..

Can this mod keep me locked onto a target even after it dies, or tries to surrender? That's what I really want. Some way to make the targeting forced to manually stay lock on at all times on the living and the dead, unless manually unlocked. Is this even possible?
