CBC - CG 854 Curious Grub

描述
Low expense, efficient asteroid handling

This little one is a redesign of an old ship of mine and I had to reach far down the treasure chest for it. The CG 854 "Curious Grub" is a modernization of my old "Mono Minership" by 5 years and also improves on its features a bit. Apart from being a normal hydrogen mining space ship, it is set up with ExcavOS. A script that handles some ship systems, while also providing useful info like the exact amount of ore you are carrying. Complementing the script there's also an ejection system that can be set up to dump Stone and/or Ice.
Although the ship is made for space mining, it can effortlessly be used on moons as well. Because of the modest lift force though planets aren't recommended.

No mods; Used script is ExcavOS [Dev Branch] by PF_Cactus
Subgrids: Ejector

Name

With the spotlights being so far upfront, I thought it funnily looked like a nosey face and Grub is just a really fitting insect for this shape of a miner.

- ExcavOS for filtering Stone/Ice, flight assists and cargo info
- Stone/Ice Ejection (On/Off state handled by event controller)

Oh and also, to make the picture itself I use very low FOV

I only used gimp in this one to make the spotlights glow a bit brighter. Then like you already said there‘s focus. Canva‘s autofocus works by identifying foreground and background though, so recreating that may be very difficult. And lastly it is all just tweaking brightness, saturation etc. and finally applying a filter to give it some tint

Hi I know I've asked before but what all did you on the main picture to make it look like that, I've been trying to learn how to make my pics look good like that. From what I can tell it seems to have focus on the ship but is there anything more?

I use Gimp and I know you've said you used Canva with filters but I'm not willing to use Canva. Could you go into more detail on what sort of filters or processes you use?

The only things so far I've learned is how to use focus in Gimp and using the ingame tool (F4) to take higher res screenshot (ScreenshotSizeMultiplier) , but they still don't come out anywhere near as good as your shots.

@Shurenai

Thanks!

@Optoclaw

On planetary vehicles that‘s the way to go yes, but without gravity it doesn‘t matter, because the collection funnel has to be mechanically completely different anyway. In the case of this miner it is helpful for the buckets to be oriented downwards so that asteroid debris doesn‘t shower the quite brittle cockpit glass while mining

i keep seeing people place the new drills upside down. a bucket wheel is designed to dig up and the contents of the bucket to slide down into the collection funnel. doing it the way i keep seeing causes the bucket to dump its contents on ground, or in this case space. it may be a game and technically doesnt matter but this is still annoying to me.
