So, this particular puzzle is more about showcasing this mechanic than a logical twist on the original puzzle. I was expecting it would force us to solve the problem without stopping the recording mid-way using some complex steps. xD
The recording has a chance to end when paused for a long time, regardless of what the player is doing (reading terminals, using photo mode). I do not know if there is a consistent logic behind it.
Using the tetrominos in their gate is actually the intended way to end the recording
If you open that gate without interrupting the recording you'll (normally) not be able to stop the recording while keeping the the red laser
I assume waiting till the playback collapses is not an intended solution?
And what's the mechanic the terminal is referring to?
