The Red Keep

This sub mod brings more content when playing as the King of the Iron Throne, ruling from King's Landing. I always found that once you actually become King the game becomes very boring. The aim of this mod is to provide enough content to play for a few more generations. I plan to also increase the difficulty of ruling the Iron Throne.

The mod does not overwrite any vanilla or AGOT files so should be compatible with most other mods.

Features

-Red Keep Domicile
Customise the Red Keep however you like over the generations. There is a new unique domicile with dozens of upgrades. These provide small bonuses and many have maintenance cost for balance but they add up over time.
IMPORTANT!!
You will get the domicile when you hold King's Landing after a couple months you will get an event that will start the mod.

-Feed King’s Landing
King’s Landing is a huge city. Every few years the grain reserves will go down and harvest in the Crownlands may not always be sufficient to feed the city. You will get a decision to request grain from the Reach so you must secure their loyalty and make sure the city is fed before any wars.
-Kingsguard Traits Matter
-New Kingsguard Honor Modifier
-80 New events related to your Kingsguard depending on their traits. Choose your white cloacks carefully!!
-Pyromancers Guild
-New decision to visit the Pyromancers Guild where you get different options like producing wildfire.
-Once enough wildfire is produced you can deploy it in your ships to defend the Blackwater Bay if an enemy fleet enters. You might severely destroy the enemy fleet.
-You can use the wildfire to set up a new Pyromancer MAA amongst other options.
-Other uses for the Alchemist guild. (Elixirs, transmutation of metals...)
-Prepare King’s Landing for War
A decision and short event chain inspired by Tyrion and Bronn in which you will review the defences of the city in preparation for a siege if your skills are right.
-Roleplay Events and Decisions
-Enter the city of King’s Landing in disguise and experience one of 20 events and event chains.
-Go for a ride in the countryside and you may experience one of 20 events and event chains related to your royal ride.
-Poet Kings can perform to the court.
-Ask for the High Septon's Blessing before an important decision (if he like you enough).
-Gold cloak loyalty and Crime
-Make sure the commander of the City Watch likes you enough or you will suffer some serious debuffs to intrigue.
-Crime will be a lot more rampant in the city.
-Summon the Commander of the City Watch and adjust their funding. An underfunded city watch will not be able to crack down on crime when you have a crime epidemic. Corruption will also affect the goldcloacks so be ready to purge them. A corrupt city watch cannot carry out crime crackdowns. Purging the goldcloacks of corruption will however reset their funding and organisation. Stay on top or you will end up with a corrupt city watch and a crime ridden city!
-Coinage and Economic Decisions
-Weaponize tariffs against certain products in the King's Landing Port
-Centralise your royal mint
-Debase or recoin your currency
-Stamp your image on the coin
-Ask for a small loan from the King's Landing Burghers
-New Interactions
-You can demand a courtier from a vassal.
-Summon to bend the knee. (Credits to jim281062 for the original version)
-Break betrhodal of a vassal (at a cost)
-Send Kingsguard on an adventure (Only the option to send him to hunt down a beast currently available.)
-Custom Decisions
-Unify Crackclaw point under a single High Lord if you have the right skills.
-Expand your holdings in the Crownlands.
-Meet with the Guilds every few years and set their rights and obligations.
-Deal with the Stench of King's Landing
-Extra Events
-You will get notified every time a Lord Paramount dies and the cause of death as well as who his heir is. (This will help keep track of important characters)
-New Nightswatch Petition every couple of years.
-10 Mini Flavor Events

This mod does not overwrite any vanilla or AGOT files so should be compatible with most other mods.

This is a long term project. Expect few and infrequent updates. I am working on it slowly to avoid burnout. A lot more content planned.

You probably need the DLC.

A small tip to improve performance when playing as the Iron Throne is to set the error log to read only and delete its contents.

@Jam Glad you enjoy the mod!

So the decision to expand the royal demesne for now is limited to Landingfield, once you build the keep there through the event you should not have access to the decision anymore. I will recheck this is the case.

I plan to expand what you can do with that barony, I am looking to create another event chain to build a great building there, I am thinking for example a university that you can go study in and send your heirs to and can rival Oldtown. I also plan to add another decision to visit your keep there and manage the Royal lands and livestock and an event chain to do with whool and monopolies.

I am looking to add similar decisions but to do with expanding the de jure lands of the Crownlands into Maidenpool, the Kingswoord and even Harrenhall through immersive event chains that may lead to wars and tyranny but that is in the future.

Hey! I absolutely adore the mod, thank you for all the hard work you put in! It dramatically increases my interest in playing as the Iron Throne, the entire mod is extremely immersive, thank you!

I'm not sure if this is an issue on my end, but the decision to settle/covert landingfield into your own holding seems to be the same event that fires every (5? 10?) years - It'd be great if that could be expanded further to other close by counties owned by the Thornes for example (at the great cost of tyranny and coin) or the event should be a one off (I'm not sure if decisions like this can be a one off, maybe once it's claimed some options to increase/decrease tax like with the gold cloaks would be a neat ending to the event chain

The internal improvements of the Maester's Turret that improve the physician aptitude (Surgeon Tools, Dentist Advisors, Reference Corpus) don't include Maesters since they are a different court position. Could you change it so the Maester's aptitude is improved instead?

Hmm, just throwing ideas but:
-Iron Isles produce a lot of Iron Ore, so something related to forging weaponry during the war, maybe army maintenance bonus if they agree to help, and malus if they staunchly refuse or are on the enemy side
- Dorne maybe importing Spices and Luxury Goods in general - so prestige etc.
- The North, could provide a lot of wood, so something related to building speed and maybe embarking cost (cheaper ship construction)
- Riverlands - and now I think I have an interesting idea; since it is a rather poor often war ravaged region, there could be something about refugees flooding King's Landing during major rebellions, and various reactions to it, like increased development (population), but massively reduced control and popular opinion, and also some possible maluses on refusing to to let them in (maybe tyranny?)

Not sure about Stormalnds or The Vale right now

That is a great suggestion! I actually thought about that. It would be cool to have more strategic interactions with the other kingdoms. I thought about the Westerlands having to provide the ore for the coins, could be tied to the reconing option. I will have to think how to do it.

Also looking for ideas for interactions with the other kingdoms that are not too gamey.

I love this mod; the events are engaging (I especially liked the event chain about extinguishing the King's Landing stench, lol), there is a wide variety of domicile buildings, and I feel like you balanced the bonuses and costs really well, so that they aren't overpowered but also don't feel like a waste of money.
The only thing I think would be cool to add (if you take such suggestions) is adding something similar to grain mechanic tied to Reach for other kingdoms; like Westerlands could supply precious metals for coinage etc.
