!!! PLEASE NOTE !!!
This mod was created before the advent of hydrogen thrusters, and those fill the same intended purpose. It is now considered obsolete - I will not be updating this mod, nor providing support for it henceforth. Thank you for understanding, and thanks for supporting me and enjoying my mods.


[OBSOLETE] CSD Afterburner

Survival ready!

Fully paintable custom model, with construction stages and fuel model.

[IMPORTANT] This MUST line up with your ship's center of mass, or it will cause you to pitch or yaw. To find your center of mass, hop into your cockpit, press k, go to "info" and check "show center of mass". You want to build the afterburner directly backward from that point.

[ALSO IMPORTANT] Obviously this system is NOT affected by the "thruster damage" setting. It is technically a weapon and will cause damage to close blocks and itself at high velocities.

This manually activated afterburner runs on CSD Exothermic Fuel. It can be added to the action bar and activated in the same way as any weapon system. This allow full power to be routed to forward thrust and ensures that any weapons systems mounted to the craft do not sustain damage during rapid acceleration. Please note that this system is designed to aid acceleration up to moderate speeds, but will begin to overheat and sustain damage if used at already high velocities. CSD holds no liability for any damage sustained as a result of improper or ill advised use of this system. CSD Exothermic Fuel will be comsumed while the afterburner is active. Exothermic Fuel packs can be created in the Assembler.
Full survival compatibility. Material costs of system and fuel hopefuly balanced, but currently untested, please leave feedback.

Afterburner requirements:
9 Steel Plate
2 Construction Component
4 Small Steel Tube
1 Motor
2 Metal Grid
1 Computer

CSD Exothermic Fuel (25 units of fuel) requirements:
2 Iron Ingot
4 Magnesium Powder
1 Platinum Ingot

i remember these as very overpowered
they are stronger then hydrogen

like i propeled a ship 10000 miles by hitting forward once
(it was a mere cockpit though)

@ NinjaPirate - I know you probably do not want to update these but you could make them use Hydrogen which would give players another style of hydro thruster to use. :)

please make this DX11 compatible.... i have wanted an afterburner in the game for a long time. On a side note, think you could make a weaker version for things like when you build rovers? basically something you can use to get up that hill your tires cant seem to grab at? or for jumps across canyons lol

This mod is currently redundant due to the advent of hydrogen thrusters. I will work to change the mechanics to integrate fuel-consumption in a balanced manner, but until such a time this mod will remain as-is, and its use is down to your discretion.

It really needs to be remade with new Hydrogen Thruster mechanics, which actually require fuel.

Also those snotty pricks who go "No Dx11, unsub bai" really don't know how the motivation of free agents works. Modders like Ninja do this for their own satisfaction, saying crap like that to any hobbiest modder is likey to at best delay work, at worst casue it to stop, delaying things further. As people decide to pick the project up assumeign anyone does.
Modders don't do things for free, they need satisfaction, if they don't get it they stop. Abuse reduces satisfaction with the project.
