Wiki That!

描述
Wiki That! is a mod which provides tools to quickly access wiki pages related to various aspects of Project Zomboid, directly from in-game. It adds context menu options to items, fluids, vehicles, and other game elements.

Direct support for https://pzwiki.net links is present in the game, thus increasing the Wiki pages access from inside the game.

How to use
  • Right-click on an item, fluid, vehicle part, or other game element to open the context menu.
  • Look for the "Wiki That!" option in the context menu.
  • Click on "Wiki That!" to open the corresponding wiki page in your web browser or Steam overlay if activated.

A few tips !
  • Selecting multiple items will open all of them in a submenu instead to access each individual unique items wiki pages.
  • The game will be paused when opening a wiki page but you can disable it in the mod options menu.
  • Wiki pages will open in the Steam overlay by default if it is activated, or in the browser otherwise or if you enabled the option in the mod options menu for it.

Supported game elements
  • Items.
  • VHS and other medias in the inventory.
  • Fluids inside items.
  • Moveable tiles (as items in the inventory).
  • Vehicles.
  • Foraging icons.
  • Traits in the character creation menu and in-game character menu.
  • Animals.
  • World objects (crops, tiles).
  • Moodles.

MAJOR CHANGES
I updated the file structure of the mod, I made sure to keep old files so your local files get replaced with empty ones, because Steam doesn't remove files on user sides. To do that you need to do a fresh install (unsub, wait update, resub).

You shouldn't need to do that, but if you are having issues, try to do that. I still suggest doing it so you never get any problems in the future. This change was made to improve compatibility with other mods as I named files with too generic names which might clash with other mods that follow a similar naming.

In the near future, after I've expected most to update their files (in a month or so), I will properly delete those old files from the mod. It's likely you will still have those files but they should be harmless.

@ivmakk
I added the option, I'm interested in knowing if it works on your side as I'm having issues on Linux with the game not opening in my external browser. It should work as I basically use the exact method as the Steam overlay being deactivated (so it works for you that way, it should with the option too)

The sentiment survey was fully driven by the wiki admins from my knowledge

If you have feedback for the modding Wiki, don't hesitate to share it to me in the modding Discord

And thx for the nice comments !

@Sir Doggy Jvla I’ve started contributing near a couple of decades ago by reverse-engineering indie games and building wikis as knowledge bases for game communities, so I’m pretty aware of where such content comes from.

And I’m actually very interested in the modding section and actively using it nowadays - really great job done, it already lets me build mods just by exploring the docs :divlove:

Really appreciate your contribution and all the wiki team’s effort - I didn’t know that the PZwiki Sentiment Survey was driven not just by TIS but also by contributors like you. My own contribution now is limited to workshop modding and helping other modders, so I’m more of a hungry-for-knowledge wiki user at this stage :happy_yeti:

P.S. I’ll add a bold record to my TODO - “start contributing to the PZ wiki” :cozycrashfish:

P.P.S. Take my Points from me as appreciation :cherrypie::cherrypie::cherrypie:

@ivmakk
The wiki is not edited by TIS itself, it is us, the community who do and even you can contribute to it !
I'm part of the Wiki team, I'm in charge of the modding section of the Wiki so it might not be pages that directly interest you if you're not into that, as it's for modders and not players of PZ (for the most part).
But the rest of the team is doing this for free, in their free time as a passion project and have put an astronomical work towards improving the wiki for players like you, but of course it takes time to improve the wiki and complete it fully, especially with the amount of information in the game to document

@Sir Doggy Jvla wow, cool! I’ll be the first one on the waitlist for the external browser toggler future release :cherrypie::surprised_yeti:
I also hope TIS will invest more time in improving the wiki content, as they recently asked the community for the opinion in wizard - that would make this mod a must-have for diving deep into all the variety of loot, complex multi-step recipes, and those unclear-purpose items.

I thought about doing that, adding an option to chose. So I guess you're the proof someone would use it haha. I'll add that in

Thnx for the mod! Quick question - is it possible (or could it be in the future) to open links in an external browser while the Steam overlay is enabled? For example, I use the overlay for other features, but its built-in browser is kinda meh, and I’d prefer to open wiki links in my regular browser without disabling the overlay.
