A friend in need

You rush to the aid of your ally, Lord Belford, whose lands are being ravaged and plundered by roaming bands of mercenaries for some time now. It seems unlikely that these concentrated attacks are pure coincidence, but we cannot say with certainty yet who these mercenaries work for. According to some rather questionable rumours the captain of a mercenary company has been captured with a written order in his possession, signed by Duc Beauregard. Be that as it may, your most important task at the moment is to assist your ally in defending his lands and his subjects.

Hints:

• We don't have much time. Establish a strong economy as quickly as possible.
  
• Protect your external economy. Use wooden palisades if necessary.
  
• Use the remains of the destroyed defences to obtain additional resources for construction.
  
• Keep your most important production buildings in the innermost core of the castle.
