# ⚔️ Crusader Kings 3: Take Vows – Character Interaction

## 🌟 Features
- 👶 Force your children (or any children in your court) to **take vows** and become monks.
➤ Removes them from inheritance
- 🙏 Earn the unique nickname *“the Reverential”* if you dedicate 3 of your children to the church (Christian faiths only).

## 🧾 Description
A straightforward RP-friendly mod that allows you to make your children (or courtiers’ children) take vows and live a monastic life.

💡 **Why use it?**
No more murder plots or costly disinheritance! This mod gives you a clean way to manage difficult partition inheritances.

⚠️ **Important to Remember:**
Forcing a child to take vows is harsh. You save on renown costs, but they’ll never have children of their own unless they commit sin.
Disinherited children, on the other hand, can still marry, have heirs, and even gain you renown through alliances and land.

In the base game, making someone a monk usually involves imprisoning them (and suffering tyranny). This mod adds a direct **“Take Vows”** right-click interaction for simplicity.

🤖 **AI Behavior:**
AI rulers will **never** use this interaction — it’s player-only. (Not Ironman compatible.)

## 📋 Requirements
To use the “Take Vows” interaction:

- 👑 Must be your child or in your court
- 📅 Must be age 15 or younger
- 💍 Cannot be married (betrothed is fine)
- 🕊️ Cannot already be a monk

## 🙌 Outcomes
- ✅ The child always accepts
- ✝️ You gain +50 Piety
- 💔 Minor opinion loss with the affected child
- 😩 Extra stress and opinion loss if it’s your heir
- 🏰 If the child is landed, you reclaim all their lands and titles

---

The mod is open source and can be found here[github.com].

@stoBoy I believe only clerical/theocracy can which is granting a county with a temple as its capital to someone, monks are considered different than clerical by the game unfortunately.

"In the current version of the game, the only way to make a child a monk is to forcefully imprison them and immediately release them forcing them to take vows"
No? Wtf are you talking about lol you can just ask them near exactly like how you describe in the mod. That's been in since day one.

It would be cool if the reverse was also true - that occasionally heirs (particuarly zealous, maybe also scholarly and asexual) actually request to take the vows. Refusing could give negative opinion, even posibly lead to rivalry.

That would make it feel more fair/evenhanded

Im aware that there is already a pilgrimage event like this, but without fail in all my hundreds of hours of ck3, it has always been a random courtier i dont care about requesting to go be a monk, instead of a family member.

@Captain Smollett It does, but it has a chance to fail. Basically here, you're exiling them to a monastery by force.
