Eastern Roman Culture & Flavor

描述

This mod introduces a unique Eastern Roman culture within the Byzantine culture group.

Note: This mod was created primarily for roleplaying purposes. It may not strictly follow historical accuracy, and that is intentional. ERCF has its own artistic vision and it follows that. The focus is on exploring possibilities within the game.

The culture starts unrepresented on the map. No rulers or provinces use it by default. You can use it in the Ruler Designer to roleplay as a not-fully-Hellenized Eastern Roman. While historically rare or nonexistent at even CK3’s earliest start dates, this mod imagines a world where some Eastern Romans maintained and embraced their original identity.

Content

⋅ Decisions & Events: Restore various Dioceses and Exarchates of the Late Roman period

⋅ Flavor: Latin-leaning namelist for Eastern Roman cultured characters and its offsprings,
new innovations, new MaA units, new illustrations, new special buildings

⋅ Map: Tweaked de jure borders, redrawn duchy, county and barony borders, better reflecting the historical Roman borders

⋅ And many more.

Compatibility

⋅ As i am making more and more additions to the mod, sadly anything could be incompatible.

Contributing

⋅ I have limited time, so as of now this mod is a community-driven project. If you want to get more directly involved and help expand the mod, please reach out via Steam, or add me on Discord. @menacesdepartir

Oh, it looks like I've found a fix/solution. It seems to have just been a version issue. I tried reverting to Version 1.18 'Crane' and I can use it normally without the game crashing/kicking me out. (If I find the error & crash logs file, I'll report it in the Discord again.)

It seems I've encountered an issue with your mod. If I play until the period where the Latin Empire exists, and I manage to defeat it, the event chain gives an option to click [Restore the Byzantine Empire]. When I click this, the game instantly crashes. I initially suspected it might be due to my multiple mods, but I tried launching the game with only this mod enabled, and the crash still occurred. (Apologies for the poor language; I used a translator.)

@Fylfot, Thanks a lot and glad you enjoy. We do have long-term plans to expand the flavor around the Catholic-Orthodox split and the schism dynamics, but that’s about as far as our future religious roadmap goes. While the idea of sol invictus surviving into the medieval period sounds definitely cool, and we already include several non-historical elements in ERCF, invictus cult making a comeback within the timeframe we focus on would be quite the long shot.

That said, the concept isn’t necessarily off the table entirely. If we decide to explore late-antique syncretic survivals or mystery traditions in a future update, sol invictus could potentially appear as a deity within a Mithraic-inspired mystery cult. It’s an interesting direction, but just not something we can prioritize right now.

Hi! I really love your mod. Could you please add the Cult of the Unconquered Sun to it, or at least include some reflection on what this cult might look like if it had survived into the Middle Ages? It would be great to give this cult some harsh and interesting doctrines.

@outlander7, Glad you enjoy

Unfortunately for the forseeable future, no.
