Idle NPC (Spawner/Editor)

描述
Idle NPC — a lightweight, idle-only NPC for scene dressing and RP. It stands in place, blinks, moves its eyes subtly, and lets you change model, skin, and a floating name tag (with color + height).

Features
  • Idle animation only — no movement, no combat, no head-tracking.
  • Subtle eye saccades + occasional blink (if the model supports it).
  • Floating name tag with color and height controls.
  • Invulnerable (no ragdoll), can’t be pushed, won’t react to players.
  • Change model and skin at any time.
  • Works in singleplayer and multiplayer. No external dependencies.

How to Spawn
  • Open the spawnmenu → EntitiesIdle NPC (or search “Idle NPC”).
  • Left-click to place it. It will idle on the spot.

Editor Panel
Open the editor while looking at (or standing near) an Idle NPC:
npcspawner_menu
What you can change:
  • Model path (e.g. models/Humans/Group01/male_07.mdl)
  • Skin
  • Display Name (leave empty to hide)
  • Name Color
  • Label Height (raise/lower the floating name above the head)
Tip: bind a key for quick access:
bind g "npcspawner_menu"

Use Cases
  • Shopkeepers / quest givers / background crowd for RP
  • Filmmaking and screenshots (set dressing)
  • Map info points with a floating label

Notes
  • This is a display NPC (base_ai). It won’t fight, follow, talk, or patrol.
  • Blinking needs a model with a “blink” flex; eyes still move either way.
  • Models without a head/eyes attachment will anchor the label to the model top.

Performance
Very light: no pathfinding or combat AI — just an idle animation and a small maintenance tick.
