"Improved" Burning Overlay Texture

"Mmmm, smells like chicken."

Yet another backlog addon I forgot I made, quite literally as this has been done for almost half a year now.

This alters both the "burned" and "ci_burning" textures to a more gorey and charred apparence. This means that both the L4D1 and L4D2 versions of the textures have been altered, so there’s no need for .vmt changes for the Infected to use one texture over the other.

I just overlayed and tweaked several different charred textures together, I'll list them here for the sake of convenience:
  • The default burning textures (L4D1 & L4D2). I upscaled and refined the original “burned” texture to 1024x.
  • Valve’s “detail_noise01” overlay.
  • HL2’s “Charple3” without the teeth and limb stump.
  • Postal 2 and 4’s flesh burn texture.
  • J3X’s “Burnification” texture from his FNV mod. [www.nexusmods.com]

Please do NOT redistribute or modify this addon for your own purposes without explicit permission onto the Workshop, GameMaps or any other third-party website.

Credits
Valve/TRS - Original textures files from L4D1, L4D2, and HL2.
RWS - Original textures from Postal 2 & Postal 4.
J3X - Textures from his “J3X Flesh Burnificating Plasma and Flavors for Burnification” mod on Nexus.
Me - Editing the textures and changing the file names to apply to both textures.

To each their own, but for those who prefer the L4D1 models, that doesn't really do much.

To clarify (and to my own knowledge), L4D1 commons can't get burned due to different shader parameters that aren't in L4D2, so the TLS team couldn't bring them back properly. So it's just a bug that hasn't been fixed.

Hey! Quick question why doesn’t this addon show up as conflicting with “(GORE) Ultra Realistic Burned Texture https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3299529798 ”? They both seem to change burned textures, but L4D2 doesn’t mark them as incompatible. Also, does anything change if I use them together, or is it basically the same result either way? do they both work well together, or is it better to use only one of them? Just curious how the game handles both at once.

oh those?
then no, those don't work with this. they utilize custom burn textures, so this is incompatible with those addons.
