OPTRE Breakable Jackal Shields

描述
Tired of jackal shields being indestructable fortresses as they go prone and relentlessly engage you from range? Look no further for a solution! Jackal shields will now break when shot by players! The hit detection code is handled client-side, with the server just tracking HP and swapping out the weapon when it hits 0 HP. So far we've had zero performance issues, but extended testing may reveal things I didn't plan for or missed. Arma is Arma after all. Please post any issues you have in the comments so I can get to them ASAP!

Limitations
- Shields can not be damaged by AI. This would require extra load on the server, to the point where I believe performance issues would begin cropping up. Arma's hit detection systems do not count weapons as objects that are being hit, so it takes extra work to determine when the shield is hit.
- This includes shields held by players, if it's not a player shooting them, the shield won't break. I may be able to fix this eventually on the client's side without a major performance hit, but this is a mod primarily meant to combat jackals, and so that's my focus.
- Hit detection is handled clientside. I would not advise this be used for PvP because to be frank, it'd be relatively easy to cheat by adding a client side mod that affects weapon damage (if your server doesn't allow client side addons this won't be a problem). Fixing this isn't a priority, because tbh, if someone is cheating in a PvE group, that's kinda pathetic and you should just get rid of them. Fixing it would add strain and instability to servers, which is a sacrifice I don't want to make.

Planned Features
These are in order of priority:
- Add settings menu so that shield HP can be customized Completed and functional!
- Add a dynamic value to the shield damage, so that different rounds will have a multiplier applied to do more or less damage depending on the ammo type (including plasma damage doing massively increased damage) Completed and functional! Plasma damage does increased damage with a customizeable multiplier, and rounds do damage inversely proportional to their penetration power (I figure that it's more interesting for the Sandbox to have something done better by small arms, and also from a physics standpoint, having to maintain the gravitational field capturing the plasma is more difficult when it's spread over a larger surface area. Enjoy my headcanon. You can turn this off in the settings)
- Add sparks or recolour effects to shields as they reach health thresholds/break
- Add animations to be played when the shields break
- Enable shields held by players to take damage as well
