HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Revolt of St. Titus was one of the last major revolts that broke out in the island of Crete against the Venetians and the only one initiated by the Latin settlers, as Latin feudatories in Candia were informed that a new tax for the maintenance of the city's port was to be imposed on them by the Venetian Senate. Duke Leonardo Dandolo of Candia imposed the new tax by force and threatened 70 nobles with death after they appealed to him, asking for the tax to be suspended until they could send a delegation to the Doge and the Senate.

The following day, feudatories stormed the ducal palace, arrested Dandolo and his counselors. Within a week, the revolt had spread to the rest of the island. Marco Gradenigo the Elder was appointed governor and rector of the whole island. The figure of St. Titus, the first bishop of Crete, was selected as the emblem of the newly established Republic of Saint Titus.

The revolt of St. Titus was not the first attempt to dispute the Venetian dominion in Crete. Riots by Cretan nobles trying to regain their past privileges were frequent, but these did not have the character of a "national" uprising. However, the revolt of 1363 was unique in that it was initiated by the colonists themselves, who then allied with the Cretans. Being a state colony, Crete featured a fiscal administration imposed over both the Latin and the indigenous population, thus creating the potential for sympathy and thus common cause between the colonists and those being colonized. This was emphasized further by the fact that at the time of the revolt, Venetian settlers had been living in Crete for two or three generations, and acculturation had made them more familiar with Greek Cretans' culture than that of Venice.

POINT OF DIVERGENCE
Historically, the revolt was put down withing a year, after a swift response by the Venetian government. In our timeline, Venice doesn't have time to respond quick enough by sending troops, and when troops do arrive, they are driven out of the island by an organised Cretan government, assisted by the Genoese.

By 1374, the conflict had spread to the Cyclades, when the duke of Naxos was deposed by the Crispo family with the assistance of St. Titus. Venice responded immediately by sending a fleet to drive out the Cretans from the Aegean. After capturing a few islands the venetian fleet was defeated near Paros and their activity in the area was brought to a halt.

70 years later, after various minor conflicts with both defeats and victories, St. Titus stands as a potential new contender in the region. But the road is not paved yet, the republic is still vulnerable, as Venice is still posing a threat and the Ottomans will soon develop an interest in the Aegean.

NOTES FROM THE CREATOR
Attention: It is recommended that you have enabled all the DLCs as it's quite difficult to determine which ones are required for the mod.

This is purely a passion project of mine and I'm aware that EU5 will release in November. This was supposed to be a small mod for myself to play with that I always wanted to make since I got the game 10 years ago, but never decided to do so until August of 2025. As I kept developing it I grew more comfortable with the code and kept expanding the mod and pushing my limits further and, believe me, if EU5's release wasn't around the corner, I would have kept developing
and expanding it. Hopefully my trusty laptop will be able to run EU5, so I can transfer this mod into it. Until then, enjoy :)

I cannot find anything in my code that could prevent the event from triggering, so it might indeed be a fault in pdx code, something I don't think I can fix.
I'll have the issue in mind though and will test it in-game myself to see if I can understand how and why it happens.

i believe it might be pdx spaghetti code and changing main culture breaks the spread, i started it around 1490's and the events stopped when i did mission creating Nisiotic culture in 1520
state of culture as of 1600's on screenshot

@Bög Varg Well, I cannot find in the code how that could be possible. The byzantine group will stop spreading only when there is no Levantine culture in Anatolia. So, it won't trigger in non-turkish provinces, if that's your problem.

forgot to mention, new culture spawning mission stops byzantine group culture spread from anatolia, unless it's not aimed to work like byz MT removing all non byzantine group cultures

@Bög Varg Thanks again for the feedback. All the issues have been addressed and resolved.

changing capital bonuses are set globally rather than on province so the choice of constantinople gave globally -25% dev cost modifier
Bög Varg 10 月 19 日 下午 12:44
the doubled effect of archeology on naxos gives it -50% dev cost modifier, at 120 dev it's beginning to be 50 per click (no infrastructure, no edict bonuses, no infrastructure)

modifier Palace of Malia from archeology events increases enemy fleet attrition but decreases their disembark time by 50% rather than increase it

@Bög Varg Thanks a lot for the good words. indeed, that event will be toned down with the next update.
