(6 - 8) Sittard Winter

During the winter of 1944, battlefronts across Belgium and Germany were caught in a whiteout, with temperatures dropping well below freezing. The township of Sittard, already under a mixed occupation, suddenly became a battlefield to be reckoned with. Rivers froze, weapons malfunctioned and vehicles stalled out in the cold of the winter; commanders were left with the choice to hold their side of the river until the weather cleared, or risk the push across treacherous ground.
