Charon class super freighter

After the re-opening of the jump gate network many factions sought to reconnect with their lost sectors and restart commercial activities, this caused a lot of ancient freighter designs to be put back into service, many well past their warranty, many with what now would be viewed as design flaws.

The Federation and its allies were no different, with the backbone of its civilian fleets consisting mainly out of old TerraCorp designs. These ships, while easy to produce back in the day now started to show their age.

To really upgrade its trading fleets the Federation and its allies required something larger, capable of carrying an enormous amount of goods in one go, what's more, it had to be capable to transport different kinds of goods, not just general cargo, but also liquids and raw materials, ensuring shortages in far off sectors could be quickly replenished if needed. With these requirements in mind, along with a desire for better protected commercial transports, the Charon class was introduced.

The Charon class offered modularity, which made it relatively easy to build in large numbers, and fulfilled the Federation's requirement of a mass transport, capable of keeping up with current and future logistical challenges, all while boasting a relatively impressive armament for a freighter, making it a worthy replacement of the Federations longest serving commercial vessels.


it adds an all new XL class ship to the Argon and Antigone shipyards, as well as into the trade ship traffic groups.

This ship has 200.000 cargo capacity for all three cargo types, its equipped with 1 L type turret and 16 M type turrets, this impressive armament is balanced out by being a rather slow ship, and only sports a single XL shield generator.

Supports custom paint jobs, and there's an optional VRO patch.
