Hold C to open the context menu > On the top left bar > Click the Doom 2 logo to start the emulator


The only way to prevent the Garry's Mod game menu from opening when pressing ESC is:

Hold C and press Y once to open the context menu and chat box > On the top left bar > Click the Doom 2 logo to start the emulator

This will leave the chat box open and prevent the ESC key from calling the game menu.
Clicking on the chat box removes this "protection".



This emulator works thanks to JS-DOS[github.com], which is a Javascript based emulator that runs MSDOS and DOS programs.

This Gmod addon does not include any game files just adapts keypresses and resolution to effectively visualize the JSDos/dos.zone emulator that is publicly available on their website, hosting DOS games and other abandonware/fair use/public domain range games.
