BTO (RANK 1.3) (🚩USSR) (Light tank) (BT-5)

描述
🧭 BT-5 Tank – Overview and History
The BT-5 was a Soviet light fast tank developed in the early 1930s. It was part of the BT (Bystrokhodny Tank – “Fast Tank”) series, designed for high-speed mobility and used primarily for reconnaissance, cavalry roles, and deep operations. It featured the Christie suspension system and convertible drive, allowing it to run on either tracks or wheels.

🛠️ Design and Development
Based on the American Christie tank chassis, the BT-5 improved upon its predecessor, the BT-2, by introducing a new turret and mounting a more powerful 45 mm 20-K gun.

Its armor was relatively light, but its high speed and mobility made it effective in early mechanized warfare doctrines.

⚔️ Combat Use
The BT-5 saw combat in several conflicts:

Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) — supplied to Republican forces.

Battle of Khalkhin Gol (1939) — against Japanese forces in Mongolia.

Winter War (1939–1940) — used against Finland.

World War II (1941) — early use during the German invasion of the USSR.

By 1941, it was considered obsolete, mainly due to its thin armor and vulnerability to anti-tank weapons, but still used due to the lack of modern alternatives.

🔧 Notable Features
High speed (over 70 km/h on wheels) made it one of the fastest tanks of its era.

Convertible drive system allowed track removal and road travel on wheels — a rare feature.

Christie suspension gave it excellent cross-country mobility.
