Corner Construction

描述
“Why haven't you finished the last section of the chemfuel pipeline? All the materials are in place, we can't take off until it's built, and raiders will be here in a few hours!”

“Well, it's in tight corner and I'd have to contort myself myself awkwardly to work on it.”

“So how did you get in there to build the power line?”

“I contorted myself awkwardly to work on it. Oh, I see. Yeah. I'll go build that fuel line before the raiders arrive.”

Vanilla Rimworld allows you to build power conduits from a corner, which is essential for building when walls form a cross and very helpful in the tight confines of a gravship. But what about all the modded pipes and wires you'd like to run through your walls? You could wait for each modder to update their Defs one by one... or you could install this mod and make everything build-able through corners.

No more removing gravship hull sections just to place an extra segment of nutrient paste pipe in an awkward corner!

As a side effect this includes being able to build through diagonal gravship walls made with non-connecting wall sections and cosmetic angled pieces, as well as being able to squeeze around the edges of move-blocking structures to place wall lights from a corner.

WARNING: Raiders can also contort through diagonal gaps to reach things, but they will set them on fire instead of repairing them. If you rely on non-connected diagonal walls for defense and use this mod then you're going to have a bad time, so build your diagonal external walls with connected segments!

FAQ

Don't I need formal engineering sign-off and regulatory approval before drilling a hole in the wall of a gravship?

Nope! There is no possible way that drilling a bunch of poorly planned holes in the thing that keeps all the air inside your spaceship could possibly go wrong.

any shot this could be updated to work with smoothing natural walls? my colonists don't like to smooth the interior corners

@OTRAVKA floor tiles may work differently because they are terrain, and this mod only affects "buildings".

this mod support not all things? i can build vanilla things, but cant build some mod thing (like custom floor tiles

@ggfirst no, because 1.5 doesn't have the relevant building tag. Also I'm not backporting mods; I can't think of a good reason for someone staying on 1.5 other than wanting to keep playing an existing save with an existing modlist and in that case they shouldn't be adding new mods.

1.5 1.5 1.5 1.5 1.5 1.5?

And here I was thinking that was vanilla...

I could have sworn I had a mod that did this very thing as I have never had this issue with my game before, but either the mod I had stopped doing that or a recent mod new to 1.6 is preventing it. Either way, this is the salvation I needed. Thank you.

Pawns can smooth through corners IF there is an otherwise non-diagonal open space near the wall. If there isn't, then the corner wall will be auto-smoothed automatically IF there are NO non-rock walls adjacent to the corner wall.

This means, if you have a corner wall you want to smooth, but there is a steel wall or something next to it, its impossible to smooth.(even if its in the fog of war and you cant see it btw)
Really really really obnoxious! Maybe this was done to help with gravships or something but it didn't used to work this way. REALLY obnoxious.

This mod is great, though it's a fix for something that shouldn't have been changed to begin with. Oh well! I'm sure I'd understand if I bought the book...

If you smooth every reachable bit of wall that's adjacent to a particular unreachable bit, the unreachable bit becomes smooth too fyi. I think you might have to have the unreachable bit designated for smoothing for it to work, so if you queue 'em up one wall at a time or something it's unlikely to work compared to just dragging the smooth tool across an entire room.

Anyway, thanks for the mod.
