描述
TQ-Retold at its core aims to overhaul and balance many systems of the base game to improve upon build diversity and overall player options.

The mod is still very much work in progress.
Your feedback will be much appreciated and helps to iterate and develop TQ-Retold further.

PSA: Patch 0.7.0 launched! This has no negative impact on newly created characters. Existing ones, which were previously imported, will unfortunately have bugged quest/save states. Characters that were created as custom map ones work fine if you were using the cm_tqretold version beforehand. If you wish to continue playing your old characters, you can download the 0.6.0 patch on Nexus Mods.

A brief rundown of what this mod changes
  • Removal of all damage type immunities. Enemies which used to be immune to one damage type are now still resistant to it.
  • New features: New shrine mechanic called "Shrine of Challenge", which replaces bleed retaliation shrines from act 2 normal onwards and spawns in a hard and rewarding group of enemies to fight with various drops like Epic/Legendary items, Monster Infrequents, Relics/Charms, Formulas or even Respec Potions. Also introduced a new shrine called "Shrine of Riches", which replaces health restoring shrines and grants a respectable amount of gold.
  • Loot container improvements: Regular chests and boss chests now drop a higher quantity and quality of loot on average. This is basically a custom inbuilt "lite" version of the popular Loot+ mod.
  • Mastery tweaks: Overhaul of many existing abilities and passives, introduced a bunch of new skills, buffed niche and underperforming stuff, but also nerfed overperforming abilities. New niche abilities to introduce extra possibilities of building and min-maxing your character.
  • Core mechanics rebalance: Health and energy regeneration tweaks with increased potion cooldowns to combat potion spam, 4 skill points per level, increased monster health scaling, racial defense reduction, etc.
  • Monster Infrequent rebalance: Many items were overshadowed by just a few MI’s. Underused MI's were buffed to make them desirable for certain builds and introduced 12 new MI's to fill some niches.
  • Epic and Legendary item overhaul: Basically the same thing as with the MI’s, but also tweaked a few existing set bonuses and added some new ones. Ajusted loot tables to allow for better target farming of uniques and no more epic difficulty uniques in legendary.
  • 158 new Epic and Legendary items with various custom skills (for now “only” armor pieces, shields, rings and amulets… weapons will follow soon™).
  • Smarter item affixes: Rebalanced the affix weights to make less desirable ones less common. Throwing weapon affix pool has been reworked to no longer use the same affixes as axes and many more small changes. Addition of over 100 entirely new affixes to grant more options when building your character.
  • Artifact rebalance in the same vein as the MI changes. Also adjusted many artifact skills / abilities in order to make them more relevant. Every Artifact has its own new pool of thematic completion bonuses.
  • Charms and Relics are of course also overhauled. Changed many completion bonuses and added a lot of new ones as well. Addition of 15 entirely new Charms from a large variety of enemies to further enhance build options.
  • Enemy spawn multiplier: 2x normal enemy spawns (bosses not included as this breaks some quests) and experience penalty of 30% to make it somewhat balanced. This is still ~140% experience compared to vanilla.
  • Miscellaneous: Animation changes to help with the flow of combat, reworked ranged enemy AI to make them less likely to constantly run away, broken items have been removed, MI's now display their affixes and have a drop sound similar to unique items, bosses are always of their highest level variant and have a greater chance of wielding unique weapons, camera is fully zoomed out when starting the game and many other small tweaks.
  • Lots of Bugfixes: Making unobtainable items obtainable, fixing broken stats on items, etc.
  • Implements other mods: The poison/vitality based staves mod by @Aainiikkusu, various skill/mesh fixes and visual upgrades by @Catnyss, boss proxy changes by the graceful @Argonil and the More Space mod by @nargil66.

What am I currently working on for patch 0.7.1?
  • New unique weapons
  • 2 new QoL default skills (done)
  • Minor bugfixing
  • Playtesting and balance



What will this mod possibly entail in the future?

  • Further adjustment of MI drop rates - some are absurdly rare
  • Adjustment to the unique reforging system

  • Standalone hard-mode version



How to install

Simply subscribe to this mod.
Under "Play Custom Quests" you will find the "cm_tqretold ~ World01.map".
Create a new character and run it.

The mod should update itself whenever a new patch is released.
You can however also force to update it by unsubscribing and resubscribing in case the automatic updates don't work.

BEWARE:
Every time you go back to the main menu or when starting the game anew, you have to relaunch TQ-Retold through "Play Custom Quest".
Never use TQ-Retold characters with any other mod!
Playing a modded character without TQ-Retold, might result in missing skillpoints and items.
Unfortunately newly introduced items such as epics and legendaries will get deleted if the character is loaded in without TQ-Retold! These items will also get deleted if they are in the "Transfer Area" of your stash when you load in another custom map character without the mod!




Compatibility

  • DLC's might not be needed when playing TQ-Retold. This is untested as of now.
  • Multiplayer works. All connected players need the same version of TQ-Retold!
  • TQVault is functional. Use the custom quest option in TQVault! As far as i know nothing gets deleted or "corrupted". Use at your own risk!



Additional Notes
  • Make sure to disable steam cloud saves as this never worked even in vanilla TQ and can cause issues with your save files.
  • Updates will happen whenever stuff is ready.

@เอฟ Next patch already has a buff to their base resistances, hp and life leech planned. They should be a lot more survivable then. It is generally also advisable to invest into some additional pet tankiness for any pet based build.

I felt that the monsters in the DLC version attacked too hard, and my skeleton pet died in one hit.

@guts Has been removed with 0.7.0 as I have stated this about a month ago. You can still download the 0.6.0 version on Nexus Mods if you wish to play the bounce version.

Great mod! Can't imagine playing without it.

Just FYI for anyone curious: works mostly fine with no DLC. Level for masteries cap out at 32 still which I assume is hard lock. This may lead to Str/Int/Dex requirement wonkiness on Epic and Legendary since you can't keep leveling that way.

I played an Elementalist summoner and found it very fun. I'm already level 65, and now that it's updated, I'm ready to try out a few other classes for experience. The mod is fantastic! It's very novel and highly playable!

Congratulations on patch 0.7.0! X2 is perfectly adequate for normal difficulty. Right decision. I started a new retal/reflection character. I'm really enjoying your mod!

Patch 0.6.0 introduced a lot of save issues due to different versions using the same map data. I've put up big exclaimers that this was the case and ran a poll before ptach 0.7.0 to see how this problem should be solved. With patch 0.7.0 I removed all maps except the cm_tqretold one, which has the downside of characters that used other versions to unfortunately be left with broken quest states or save issues. I made sure to wait ~1 month before putting up patch 0.7.0 to make sure people still had time to "finish" their playthroughs of non cm_tqretold characters. If you were playing the cm_tqretold version before patch 0.7.0, it should work just fine now.

@962807512 I have not introduced pet bonuses with % total damage for weapons and no flat damage... that might be a good idea. There are other options though, which already support caster type pets:

- New prefix for torso armors called "Leader's", which grants % total damage to pets among other things.
- New suffix for torso armors called "of Persistence", which grants huge amounts of % damage over time related bonuses for pets.
- New Charm called "Sentient Fiber", which grants % total damage for pets and can be applied to any armor piece.

@hedgehoglock57 Quest states of characters playing on the current xmax version might get bugged unfortunately, which is why I want to give enough time for people to finish their playthroughs. After 0.7.0 there won't be any more trouble with this kind of stuff... a clean break from all this mess.

Okay, as you say. There won't be any problems with an Xmax character in the new single version either?
