Decades after the Combine invasion, the planet is a shell of its former self. The remaining population has been segmented into controlled urban sectors spread across the wasteland. The Air Exchange has been running for many years, and clean air has become a distant memory.

FORECLOSURE BETA
Welcome to the dark and gritty world of the Half-Life 2 Beta. This map hopes to capture the universe hinted at in the HL2 Beta concept art, sticking closely to the simplistic Beta visuals. Every structure — excluding used assets — has been rebuilt by hand based off of designs from various leaked Beta maps.

Enjoy exploring this expansive, dystopian city as you discover its gloomy backstory and the many secrets hidden within. From walking through the stone streets and taking in the contaminated air, to investigating the abandoned subway station or the run-down apartments, to hearing the many didactic messages of the Consul, there is plenty of content to enjoy.

Note: This is the "beta" or "lite" version of gm_foreclosure, meant to recreate the original, undeveloped Beta visuals. For a far more detailed and "modern" version, please check out the original map!

  • The classic beta atmosphere
  • Detailed custom soundscapes for both outdoor and indoor areas
  • Several triggered events, such as NPC interactions, passing razortrains, and a functioning Consulcast PA system
  • A detailed two-floor apartment building with several rooms
  • A dark underground subway station
  • An admin room with several global controls for atmosphere and events
  • Expansive 3D Skybox
  • Full AI nodes and navmesh
  • Support for Stormfox and Atmos (possibly CSM)

Notes:
  • Noclipping through indoor areas rather than going through doors may lead to incorrect soundscapes.
  • If you are having FPS issues, try using the buttons in the Admin Room and/or disabling addons.

They're raised so you can see them better, they're just for show

What happened to those soldiers on the barricades? They look like they're standing, but if you look closely (or just stand next to them using the no-clip), they're sitting in the air. As it is, the map is very good.:steammocking:

There is an admin room in which you can disable all NPCs. I can update the map to add collisions for the catwalks, though (just had them disabled for optimization lol)

This is a really good map, easily a contender for best hyper-era recreations, however these 2 things bug me the most:
that there isn't a sandbox version without the npcs and scripted sequences
and that the building catwalks dont have a floor collision to place npcs or stand on

can't believe i didn't download this map until now, it's right up my alley! Amazing map man.
