IDS Onya A Myrendel

The IDS Onya A. Myrendyel is an Interdincian Spacecraft destroyer designed in 1114 and built and completed in 1116 as a second installment and attempt at refinement for the new and still developing Vystar class spacecraft. Being the first to be designed for space and space alone, the craft initially held an apathetic yet understanding opinion by the general public, as spacecraft were very new and nobody knew how to make a good spacecraft just yet.

The Onya found itself in a solid spot, serving as a helpful support asset despite its rather expensive cost. Taking further advantage of the ultimate high ground of space to pierce the top armour of enemy vessels at unexpected angles. Leading to some devastating victories within the Interdincian Navy. A year before the Onya was to be retired, the craft experienced a mechanical failure and low orbit that threatened to cause the craft to fall into the atmosphere of Caryya, one of the new space colonies that interdiction had established. After a distress call and a hasty evacuation effort, the craft re-entered the atmosphere of Caryya and hit a swamp 6 kilometers east of the small town of Fortiniya, where it serves as a tourist location, propping up the towns economy to this day.

The namesake and symbolism of the Onya is representative of a new world discovered and the people who led it there. Back in 1059, many possible habitable planets were discovered within reasonable proximity to Nostra for possible colonization to be considered in the future. The one who discovered the first planet to ever be colonized by Interdincia was an astronomer by the name of Onya Myrendyel. Later on, Onya had a daughter named the same. Onya Myrendyel II, inspired by her mother, led the charge to become a space-faring country. Throughout her life, her studies led her to be one of the main chairmen of Istaryu. This influence and impact of the Myredel family on the Interdincian space age led to their names being placed on the second craft of the Vystar class. The symbol of the craft is that of the planet Gyrda. The first habitable planet to ever be discovered outside of nostra, and the first planet discovered by Onya.
