Burgundy is a region that started when it was assimilated by France.During World War II, the concept of the Burgundian Knightly State can be traced back to when Heinrich Himmler proposed the idea of a standardized state with National Socialism (Nazism) as its ideology. He claimed that the Kingdom of Burgundy was part of Germany and sought to create the Burgundian Knightly State. However, his proposal was not accepted, and instead, the territories of France and Belgium were directly annexed by Germany.During the war, considering the rebellion launched by the SS during the war in Western Russia, Hitler made a concession to Himmler because he also wanted to ensure stability within the Greater German Reich. As a result, the German territories of German-occupied Belgium, northern France, and west of the Moselle River were ceded to Himmler and formed the Burgundian Knightly State.The Burgundian Knightly State was located in Western Europe, bordered by France to the west, the Greater German Reich to the east, the Swiss Confederation and the Kingdom of Italy to the south, and the Netherlands Commissionerate to the north.As part of the Greater German Reich, Burgundy was entirely controlled and managed by the Burgundian SS and had complete autonomy. The leader of the Burgundian SS, Heinrich Himmler, invented his own ideology—the Burgundian system—and ruled the country with it.The people of Burgundy were controlled through fear and brutality. The Burgundian SS was considered the best military force in the world, and they were integrated into the daily operations of Burgundy. Burgundy was known for having "more labor camps than houses," and anyone who dared to oppose the SS rule would be immediately sent to a labor camp.
